Hello dear Ladies of Hive community,
There are small routines at work that become so familiar that we hardly notice them anymore.
One of mine is preparing the coffee for the afternoon shift.
By then, the morning has already passed, the hotel has gone through several hours of activity, and the rhythm of the day has changed. I prepare the coffee almost automatically, as I have done so many times before.
Sometimes, while waiting for it to be ready, I remember the coffee I used to drink slowly when I had more time.
There is a difference between coffee made for a busy day and coffee that you actually sit down to enjoy.
One is about getting through the day.
The other is about being present in it.
And perhaps that is why the idea of reheated coffee came to my mind.
It is not the same as freshly made coffee. Something has changed. The aroma is different, the warmth is different, and you know it has already had its moment.
But sometimes, when you are not expecting much from it, you take a sip and discover that it is still comforting.
I think some things in life are like that.
There are conversations that ended too soon. Friendships that became distant without a real reason. People who once occupied an important place in our lives and, for one reason or another, disappeared from our everyday world.
Sometimes we meet again after months or years.
And the strange thing is that we do not always return to the same place.
We are different.
They are different.
The circumstances are different.
A second opportunity does not recreate the first moment. It creates another one.
I have learned that this is important.
Giving something another chance does not mean pretending nothing happened. It does not mean forgetting disappointments or ignoring the reasons why there was distance.
Sometimes it simply means being willing to sit at the same table again and see what remains.
Some relationships return with a warmth we did not expect.
Others return only long enough to give us closure.
And some are better left in the past.
There is no universal recipe for knowing which one will happen.
Perhaps the important thing is not to force the answer.
Just as with coffee, sometimes you take a sip and know immediately.
Sometimes you need a little time.
And sometimes you simply decide that today you would rather make a fresh cup.
I think second chances are like that.
They do not promise that everything will be as it was.
They simply offer us the possibility of discovering what it could become.
Thank you for reading this ninth chapter of Secrets of the Table.

Hola querida comunidad de Ladies of Hive,
