Welcome once again to my blog; today we're diving into a k-drama movie titled Why Her. This is one of the many Korean movies I've watched and can recommend to anyone. A very interesting one at that.

Now, this movie follows the story of a lady called Oh Soo-jae, a very brilliant, fearless, young, intelligent, and ambitious lady...she can be very calculative too. She happens to work at the biggest law firm in the country, called TK Law Firm. The only complicating thing about the movie is Oh Soo-jae's relationship with the chairman (Choi Tae-kook) of the law firm she's working at. Choi Tae-kook happens to be a very intelligent man; he's always a step ahead, and he knows Oh Soo-jae so well that he often uses her to his advantage.

The movie is a long one, just one season with sixteen episodes, but you can't afford to miss an episode. So interesting that you can't help but just see it to the end. Along the line, Oh Soo-jae got involved in a death case, and she got blamed for it. With that, she got demoted into being a lecturer at a law school while putting everything she had worked for at TK Law Firm at risk.

It was at the university that she met Gong Chan, a law student who's so interested in her. Unknown to her, they both share a history, where she had been the one defending him for a case he was falsely accused of, and Gong Chan never forgets it as to him; she was the only one who believed in him then when no one did. Along the line, they began to develop feelings for each other, but Oh Soo-jae's life isn't so much of an easy one; she was still trying her best to reclaim her seat in the TK Law Firm, and with all of that, she still has her past haunting her. She also got to know that she, the little girl she often seems to get connected with, was her daughter who she was told had a stillbirth then, a lot of things... Just so complicated, interwined but understandable.

And with all of those secrets in the open, with her life being in danger, with her past haunting her, with her feelings for Gong Chan and a lot more, she's left to decide how far she's willing to go, especially with the fact that she's up against the great Choi Tae-kook himself.

I love this movie so much, and believe me, I'm going to watch it again before deleting it; it is just so interesting. It happens to be one of the few Korean movies I spent days to watch. I really took my time, paused, swallowed, went back, exhaled, thought, and rewatched it all. And what I love most is these two characters, Oh Soo-jae and Choi Tae-kook. Choi Tae-kook is a very dangerous and terrifying man who could go any extent and do anything just for his own interest. And I very well admire his calmness; you know how a person can be so calm, but still you feel threatened by him. He doesn't need to shout or scream for you to know that he can destroy you. And then comes Oh Soo-jae, the intelligent lady. I love her especially because she happens to be the only one who can match his energy.

She happens to be the only one who can challenge him, confront him, and walk out on him, and all, I so much love how they do go back and forth in their dealings and all. Though I must admit that she isn't totally on his level, even still, he knows that she's not someone to dismiss, as she's someone he also knows is capable of more than most people around him. I love almost every scene that had them both together. I love Oh Soo-jae. I love how she can walk into a room full of powerful people, yet you're the one who gets intimidated. Not only that, but I also love the calmness she often has in her face even when you think things won't go in her favor. She can be cold, intimidating, harsh, and rude, and all that, and still I enjoyed her character so much.

And then we have Gong Chan, the cute guy who's in love with his lecturer. Even though Oh Soo-jae did her best to push him away, he stayed, and I love and appreciate that Oh Soo-jae had someone like him beside her. If not, she wouldn't have been able to handle some of the situation she finds herself in.

But like I said earlier, the movie is somehow complicated, and that made me feel somehow, just too much was happening at a time. Not as if I don't enjoy it or understand it, but then, it most times feels too messy and cumbersome. Also, some of the legal investigation felt somehow about, not all, but there are some where you just see evidence appearing so easily; you just suddenly see a tight situation that you thought would take time to get over and get resolved so fast and easily.

In conclusion, Why Her is a very interesting movie; Oh Soo-jae deserves an award for her character; the lady killed it for me. And Choi Tae-kook, I've always loved that man in movies, always intimidating. The movie is worth watching.
