I moved flats here in Berlin a couple of weeks ago, hence I have a new neighborhood to make myself familiar with. (I only moved about 2 kilometers but it's still a change, a different atmosphere here). I don't really have access to any green areas just outside my door but in Berlin you can easily come across small green oases if you just are a bit curious.

I sort of stumbled upon a more or less hidden gem, in the midst of a lot of concrete and noise. It's very inspiring, in Berlin there are a lot of these seemingly improvised gardens, where anyone can plant a seed or a plant and grow whatever they please. And it actually seems to work, in the sense that no one harvests what's not theirs. But that I can't say for sure. Anyway, it sure is inspiring to see these initiatives in the middle of a big city.

City garden. Can you see the graffiti artist in the background? You've got to love this city 馃檪

Ar first I was a bit confused as this area seemed to be for bikes only, but after a while I figured the bike lines weren't really used and people were strolling around. So I ventured inside and discovered the garden. I was happy to discover so many plants and flowers.

So many details to discover in this place if you just pay attention. It really lifted my spirits to see this creativity, it makes me happy to live in a city like this.

It's hard to transmit the feeling of being in an urban area when seeing these pictures but I'm actually right next to a lot of train tracks and a shopping mall.

Here you see the truck in the background, a lot of construction work going on in this area.

The trees for sure helped a lot to create this feeling of being nourished by nature.

Just outside this green area there's a skate park and this ping pong table. In the background you can see the mall.

I was very pleased to have discovered this hidden gem, not far from my flat. I'll definitely return for some more inspiration. Maybe even plant something myself, who knows 馃檪
