Ever since I started on Hive, I’ve known about the ecosystem’s series of games, but I’d never really gotten around to trying any of them due to a lack of interest and time. However, when I received an invitation to participate in Hive Grove, my curiosity got the better of me, and I decided to start my own forest within the ecosystem.

I don’t remember who sent me the first seed, but when I visited the website, I liked the concept and thought, “Why not?” Especially since I enjoy farming games, and this one wouldn’t take as much time as others where you have to rotate crops, go sell them, keep an eye on the plants so they don’t die, and do all the networking needed to get support from other players.

With my first seed, all I had to do was water it daily and visit my friends’ forests to help them with their trees. After I started exploring a bit more, I saw that there are missions, a leaderboard based on performance, and Hive rewards for those who accumulate the most points.

When I started, the first season was almost over, and I was a bit lost at first, but then I began to get involved in the campfire, where players communicate, share their achievements, and make important announcements.

I now have 3 trees in my forest, and I plan to expand it much further, since having them also yields dividends in Hives that go directly to your wallet every time you tend to your saplings, allowing you to buy gifts for friends or upgrades for your own forest.

The good news is that my first tree has already grown from a seed into a sapling, and the second one is just a few days away from leveling up as well, so I’ll be buying one more tree and more plots of land to expand my forest with various species.

It’s a game that doesn’t take up too much time, and the best part is that—even though many might disagree with me—it doesn’t create an addiction or an urgent need to stay connected, so it’s a cool way to pass the time, earn some tokens, and meet other people in the ecosystem whom you might not even come across through other Hive Dapps.
