Hello steemians today I come to you with a sea dish that is not well known which is fish eggs. Fish eggs are packed with healthy amino acids, fats and vitamins which is a great energy boosting nutrition resource. We are all familiar with caviar which is the salted and cured fish eggs of sturgeon but not all fish eggs look good as caviar. Whereas you can pay 30 dollars for 100g of caviar I just purchased 1.5 kg of sea bass eggs for 3 dollars. This is simply because no one knows the value of these tasty eggs to the point that theres no demand. The fisherman insisted that I take all of his eggs even after I told him that it is too much. It was not nice that I had to put more than half of the packet in to trash.
This beauty is a 1.6kg round headed gray mullet which gives a total of 750 grams of fish egg.
Today I will be explaining you my recipe on how to cook fish eggs. There are actually numerous ways to turn it in to a tasty meal which can be done. Although my favorite form is by grilling, we can't always access a grill so today we will be cooking in a pot.
- Chopped Parslye
- Sliced Green Pepper
- Thin Sliced Garlic (at least 2 cloves)
- Some Chopped Tomatoes
- Tomato Juice
- Olive Oil
- Butter
- Black Pepper Dust
- And of course fish eggs
First you should chop the fish eggs like this:
I know it doesn't look nice right now maybe thats why no one eats them but it gets better when cooked.
After you prepare other ingredients the next step is putting all of the materials in the pot, which should look something like this:
Later you cook it with lid closed for about 13-15 minutes with occasional stirring. When it starts to lose water it means its almost done! The trick here is to not letting the eggs dry too much. The end product has a rice like look which can make a great side dish. Heres the picture of my meal:
Sorry for the messy photo taking a picture came to my mind midst dinner :(
So thats it folks, one of the most undervalued food brought to you. Hopefully someday you will also decide to try it!
