People erase expectations while interacting to each other.
The other day, I talked to a friend of mine about friendship that led us to talking about expectations. Many times, we get hurt because we expect something from others. We get hurt because people don't meet our ideals and expectations we form about them. We want them to be the perfect friend, companion, someone who will accept us no matter what and when they don't meet these expectations we have for them, we get hurt.
Sure there are actions that you may encounter expectations such as boss- employee relationship but when it comes to friendship & partnership, we need to let go of expectations about the other person. I think it's more freeing to connect with someone without expecting anything from them. It's more freeing to know that we can be ourselves and if they don't like us, they can move on and we are not hurt.
Forming a connection without expectation allows us to move freely and the chance to meet others. I think often the pain I feel is caused by me putting a lot expectations to others. When I stopped doing it and just be myself while interacting with them, I feel at best and the relationship can thrive. Though they may have expectations about me, that's on them and not me.
