I mentioned earlier than in October, I want to do a simple financial revamp challenge, spending 5$ a week a.k.a food on a college budget.
Over the last 2 years I have been in a position where I can afford any meal I could ever ask for. I can afford prioritizing my health instead living on an extremely tight budget. I am even doing takeaway almost five times or more in a week with average spending over 5$/day. In a week alone, I spent about 35$ on food excluding coffee shop visits which in average I spend about 3$ and also snacking in average of 2$ about four times a week. So roughly, in a week I spent about 50-60$ on these things.
But Mac ! You are living in a cheap country!
For western standard, my country is cheap but for residents, it's not that cheap. Sometimes I have no idea how much people my age spend. Probably because my circle used to be middle to upper class, I always thought that I was the poorest of among these students. But apparently, if I downgrade my standard, I was still spending lavishly on a something I called " tight-budget".
As comparison, in 2015 to 2016 I used to survive on 35-40$/month. That was my pocket money because my rent was paid yearly. Then early 2017 to now, my spending in average is 200$/month. So, I have been thinking about it, If I could survive on that budget now, won't I have much more money to invest and flip?
Then I have several other questions such as, how much would I be able to save up? What are my expensive habits? Will I lose weight doing this challenge? will I get sick if I eat like the old me? how about my medication need? we'll find out.
Say hello to Indomie, mix breakfast cereals and cheap bread....
I am getting very excited whilst also scared. Perhaps it's a good thing that I am scared because changes are always scary. I am posting this under self-improvement cause I think it is part of my financial improvement journey. Perhaps, I would step out of my financial bubble and start being aware of how much unnecessary things I have consumed.
