¡Hola!

Hi! Today, continuing to follow up on how I am healing my shoulder pain, I first applied a cold pack for 10 minutes and then a hot pack for 10 minutes, this method is known as contrast therapy. I also massaged the area deeply with a cold cream.
Today I want to go a little more in depth as to why the cold and then the heat on the area. But first, what is this for? Some people know that a little bit of cold can help deflate an injury or bruise, but do you know what heat does? Let's start there.
The application of heat to a specific area of the body has the following physiological effects, according to the Official College of Pharmacists Zaragoza:
Poco a poco estoy sanando. ✌🏻

Although there are other effects, I want to focus on these, mainly on the increased blood supply. By applying cold first, I find it more effective in reducing the mild swelling I sometimes feel and reducing the pain I may feel, which is currently not much, but it is better not to feel pain. I usually apply cold a few times a day, at least when I feel that the discomfort intensifies a little more to soothe the area. At night, before going to bed, I apply cold for a little longer and then heat. According to various research I have read, by doing this and first decreasing the blood flow, in addition to decreasing the pain, I cause the blood to leave the area and, if there are toxins, to leave with it. With the heat, increasing the blood flow, I get the blood to flood the area again, rehabilitating it and promoting the healing of the tendon or muscle worn. This contrast therapy in a very summarized way can be said that what it does is to reduce the initial inflammation with cold and then increase blood flow with heat to promote healing.
I feel that it is helping. I'm not feeling as much pain anymore and after I massage it, I feel tingling in the area, like when a muscle hurts from working out and it's healing, something like that. Little by little I am healing. If you know anything else about this, feel free to comment. Thanks for following my recovery and see you in an upcoming post. ✌🏻
