A warm greeting to all members and friends of the Holos&Lotus community.

Sometimes it feels as if life in Venezuela places us on an unpredictable treadmill that never stops challenging us. We wake up planning our day around work, household chores, and family routines, only to have all our plans shattered in a fraction of a second when the power suddenly goes out.

The hardest part about the electricity issues we experience daily isn't just the physical discomfort or the disruption to our work; it's the total lack of schedule. Not knowing when the light will go off—or when it will return—forces us to live in a state of constant alertness. It catches us off guard while cooking, working, or trying to rest. Without realizing it, we get used to living in a rush, trying to do everything as quickly as possible "just in case the power goes out," as if running were the only way to stay afloat.

A few days ago, during one of those sudden blackouts, I found myself sitting in the quiet dark without phone signal, without internet, and unable to complete what I had planned for the day. At first, my mind reacted with intense frustration and a heavy sense of helplessness. It felt as if taking a pause against my will was a complete waste of time. But that forced silence made me reflect deeply on how much energy we waste trying to control things that are completely beyond our hands.

Living under these conditions forces us to learn a very tough lesson about emotional management. Caring for our inner well-being in a context like ours isn't about ignoring reality or pretending everything is fine. It is about understanding that while we cannot control the electrical grid or the unexpected schedule of blackouts, we can control how we react when darkness arrives.

When the power goes out and everything stops, we are presented with a choice: we can let anger consume our peace, or we can use that mandatory pause to take a deep breath, talk with our loved ones, or simply rest our minds from the daily noise. Learning to slow down, even when forced by circumstances, becomes an act of self-preservation and deep respect toward our mental health.

Today I wanted to share this reflection as a gentle reminder for anyone going through this daily struggle. If the power catches you off guard today and breaks your plans, don't let it steal your inner peace as well. The chores will wait, but your emotional balance needs your care right now.

How do you manage the uncertainty of unexpected power outages? What helps you keep your calm when darkness changes your plans? I would love to read your thoughts and personal experiences in the comments below.
