Like every week, I wish you a wonderful Wednesday, full of health and good energy. Today I want to tell you about a place I've been wanting to visit for a long time, and I was finally able to enjoy the tranquility offered by Gonzalo de Quesada Park, better known to many as Villal贸n Park.With this post I join the #wednesdaywalk challenge created by our friend 
Yesterday, after a day of work, my nephew and I went out to pick up some documents from my mother at the corner of 9th and E Streets. On the way back, we discovered this park located in the heart of Vedado, between C, D, 5th, and 7th Streets. Although it's been mentioned a lot, I had never explored it. What we found was a spacious space, full of history and potential, built in 1915 in honor of the patriot Gonzalo de Quesada, one of Jos茅 Mart铆's closest collaborators.

Como cada semana, les deseo un maravilloso mi茅rcoles, lleno de salud y buena energ铆a. Hoy quiero contarles sobre un lugar que llevaba tiempo queriendo visitar, y por fin pude disfrutar de la tranquilidad que ofrece el Parque Gonzalo de Quesada, mejor conocido por muchos como el Parque Villal贸n.Con este post me uno al reto de #wednesdaywalk creado por nuestro amigo
Ayer, despu茅s de un d铆a de trabajo, mi sobrino y yo salimos a recoger unos documentos de mi madre en la esquina de las calles 9 y E. De regreso, descubrimos este parque ubicado en el coraz贸n del Vedado, entre las calles C, D, 5 y 7. Aunque se ha mencionado mucho, nunca lo hab铆a explorado. Lo que encontramos fue un espacio amplio, lleno de historia y potencial, construido en 1915 en honor al patriota Gonzalo de Quesada, uno de los colaboradores m谩s cercanos de Jos茅 Mart铆.
The park, although neglected today, reflects the elegance with which it was conceived. In the center, a large fountain, currently empty, still retains the grandeur of what was once a majestic focal point. Without a doubt, what captivated me most were the pergolas, shaped like semicircles or straight lines, arranged to provide shade and beautify the surroundings. It would be wonderful to see them covered in flowering vines, restored to their original splendor.
El parque, aunque hoy en d铆a descuidado, refleja la elegancia con la que fue concebido. En el centro, una gran fuente, actualmente vac铆a, a煤n conserva la grandeza de lo que debi贸 ser un majestuoso punto focal. Sin duda, lo que m谩s me cautiv贸 fueron las p茅rgolas, en forma de semic铆rculos o l铆neas rectas, dispuestas para dar sombra y embellecer el entorno. Ser铆a maravilloso verlas cubiertas de enredaderas florecientes, restauradas a su esplendor original.
I was also struck by the variety of benches: granite ones next to the pergolas, marble ones around the monument, and cast iron ones under leafy trees. The latter offered welcome shade where we sat to chat and enjoy the evening breeze.
Tambi茅n me impresion贸 la variedad de bancos: de granito junto a las p茅rgolas, de m谩rmol alrededor del monumento y de hierro fundido bajo los frondosos 谩rboles. Estos 煤ltimos ofrec铆an una agradable sombra donde nos sent谩bamos a charlar y disfrutar de la brisa del atardecer.
The marble monument to Gonzalo de Quesada stands out for its sobriety and is surrounded by benches and walls of the same material, lending a solemnity to the space.
El monumento de m谩rmol a Gonzalo de Quesada destaca por su sobriedad y est谩 rodeado de bancos y muros del mismo material, otorgando solemnidad al espacio.
This park, with its size and beauty, deserves better care. It's an ideal refuge for children, seniors, and anyone who wants a break from the city's pace. I hope its importance as an urban heritage site is more appreciated and life is brought back to this very special corner of our city.
