Walk along the Mariño bridge and the banks of the Manzanares (Eng - Esp) River
Greetings, #Hive friends! It’s a pleasure to connect with you—wishing you all an excellent and blessed day. Today, I’m sharing my walk along a stretch of the Manzanares River, which flows through the city from north to south. I also visited the Mariño Bridge, located on the street of the same name right in the heart of the city; the area offers some beautiful scenery. The bridge features a lovely mural on the section connecting it to its supporting pillars. Above, the railings are silver-colored, matching the lampposts positioned along the railings and the supporting columns.
The mural depicts the rich flora and fauna of the region—including a blue bird sipping nectar from a flower. Further along, you can see the river as it passes by the side of Ayacucho Park, near a section of the bridge currently undergoing repairs. In this area, the mural illustrates the river bordered by dense vegetation. Looking beneath the bridge, you can see the supporting pillars, the river’s flow, and the surrounding greenery reflected in the water. From this vantage point, you get a view of part of the city center and various commercial establishments. There’s a large Ceiba tree on the corner, and branches from trees lining the Manzanares River path and Ayacucho Park reach out over the area. I visited during the morning, walking along the concrete path that runs beside the river, stretching for several meters from the bridge all the way to the skateboard park. The river acts as a mirror for these grand trees, eventually continuing its course toward the "La Boca" sector, where its waters drain into the Caribbean Sea.
Continuing my walk, I took the rocky path and snapped several photos of the trees found along it. In the image, you can see a wall at the bottom and a large stone wall further up, along with various trees lining the trail. This stretch of the river—much like the one behind Guaiquerí Park—is one of my favorites in the city. It’s a popular spot, thanks to its beautiful scenery, cool breeze, and the shade it provides as a respite from the stifling heat that characterizes this city.
The trees here have striking, unusual trunks, with roots that form structures resembling little houses or caves. The path is notable for its large trees; beyond the Ceiba (kapok tree), you’ll find Apamate, Flamboyán (flame tree), mango trees, and others. During their blooming season, they adorn the riverbank—the Apamate, with its lovely pink blossoms, blankets the path along the river, creating a sort of floral carpet on the ground. To wrap up the walk, there’s an image showing the concrete walls and the tree-lined path that borders the Manzanares River. This waterway is undoubtedly one of the most significant in the city; as it flows through the center, it creates beautiful landscapes that blend natural and urban elements, offering truly incredible views. After finishing my walk along the Manzanares River, I headed to Ayacucho Park to rest beneath the large trees, which are surrounded by concrete benches. This is my entry for the #WednesdayWalk, organized by @tattoodjay.
Blessings!
¡Bendiciones!
