Hi all

I hope the week has started well for all of you and there isn't anything major that is to occur.

I'm busy with a kiddy book on survival skills and it has been so much fun to turn a usually doom and gloom book into a learning opportunity instead.

Anyway, Fell Dragon is going to go downhill from here. I do have to warn you all that there is very little happiness in the next few updates, so be prepared for that as we enter the final stages of Fell Dragon. Enjoy!

The algorithm quickly told Shareik where he could find the Fell Dragon. He also knew that the program was flawed as it didn’t consider pockets of time that branched off from the corridors. These areas were meant to be resting places for the Heavenly when they were more numerous. He spent a few days assisting the prince with the new variables, which resulted in the program needing more testing. However, Shareik had the information he needed.

He penned a note to be delivered to Matta after a few months. He knew that by then, the boy wouldn’t be able to undo what was done by him. He couldn’t have him interfere with what Shareik needed to do.

Once he had tied up all the strings he needed, he was ready to make the journey. He was already sure that no Wolven were stalking the corridors. He was sure that by now the Fell Dragon’s power had chased them off or she had eaten them. He hoped that she had enough of her faculties remaining that he could speak to her. He needed to talk to her. He owed her that much as he was the one who had forced her into the cage after her first taste of freedom as the Fell Dragon.

He requested only one thing before he left. To talk to the queen alone. Saita had allowed it, but only if the Heavenly would meet her in the garden. He had agreed. He found her sitting at the base of a tree, enjoying the sunshine and the absence of the hustle and bustle of her life. She opened her right eye to view him as he approached her.

“Martin and Maxine.” He said when he came to stand before her.

Confused, Saita could only stare at him.

“You asked me the names of the twins you were meant to bear.”

He had expected a pained expression but was rewarded with a small smile. She closed her eyes for a moment and said, “Thank you.”

She got to her feet and looked to the heavens. Shareik didn’t know what she was thinking, but he knew the names were the last thing she needed to put their previous unfinished conversation behind her. He wanted to tell her more, but he knew it would mean nothing.

She then fixed him with a look and said, “You’re planning something, and I am concerned.”

He didn’t offer more than a smile.

“At least tell me that I can save this universe, this timeline, and those who are in my family.”

“Yes.” Was all he said. He didn’t have the heart for more than that.

“What will you do if you get to the cage?”

“Do you think you would understand if I explained it to you?”

Saita grinned and shook her head, “Likely not.”

“Saita, you have made good connections with good people. Remember that when things get difficult. Don’t keep secrets from those who could help you, even if everything in your body tells you otherwise. The pieces are almost in place.”

The queen frowned and said, “Sounds like you’re not coming back.”

“I have done what I can. Don’t see this as a goodbye. There will be one more time that we will meet.”

Saita thought this over and her grin slowly disappeared, “Does Matta know?”

“He will, later, but for now, I must do this to ensure the outcome that is required.”

“Why?”

Shareik knew that she wanted more of an explanation, but he couldn’t give it to her. It would reveal too much. Already her choices were limited, and she was no longer blurry to him. He knew that he was making the correct choice.

“Because you were right, you deserved better.”

Saita thought this over and only nodded her head. She knew this was a goodbye but didn’t want to draw it out more than was required. She took a deep breath and sighed softly, “Then the only thing I can say is good luck.”

“You’re not going to stop me?”

“And waste both our time? No, you will do what you must, and I will do what I must when the time comes.”

“Goodbye, Your Majesty.”

Saita looked him in the eyes, bowed her head slightly, and said, “Goodbye, Shareik.”

That was all he needed, and he left the human planet to find the closest veil he could make use of. He was easily able to penetrate it and make his way into the corridors of time. He closed the veil behind him and took a deep breath. He continued along the corridor knowing that he was safe until he entered the room he was looking for.

Although defences were in place, he easily bypassed them and entered. In the corner of the room lay the sleeping Wolven with his mistress propped up against him. She hadn’t changed a bit since all those millennia ago.

Shareik remembered the chaos when she had managed to escape. She had managed to spread her power throughout her pack of Wolven, and when the time came, she had had his Master murdered while she absorbed the power of the pack. She had ripped through not only her cage but the fabric of time. Appearing with her chosen Wolven beside her in a timeline ruled by war, she had flourished. Had she gone into hiding, it was likely she could have disappeared, but the universe had had no use for her, and so her hunger quickly overpowered her, causing her to decimate vast areas within the timeline she had been ejected into. Her want was taking control of her higher thinking.

She was crazed, and not even her Wolven could get her to calm down. She reacted as the first Fell Dragon, devouring everything that was before her. No one could stop her, and the universe was desperate for her to be returned to her cage, but nothing anyone did could lure her back. She was a rabid animal, tearing through anything that stood in her way. The Wolven had tried to control her, but she was beyond being able to think and she would lash out time and time again.

A Champion had appeared, as the Heavenly always tried to bring balance. He had been a powerful warrior, one who was known to bring wars to an end within days. He was heralded as the only hope of the universe. However, he barely stood a minute against her insanity as her claws tore him apart and her teeth sunk into his neck.

Shareik was horrified. Nothing seemed to put a damper on the fury of the Fell Dragon. Her driving want caused her to eat into the very fabric of time. If she collapsed time it was going to destroy everything everyone had worked so hard to bring into balance. There was only one way to bring her under control and back into the cage. She would have to return by her own violation. But how?

The Wolven was frantic about his mistress and tried to bring her back from her insanity, and she had nearly killed him. Shareik had rescued the Wolven, saving him from certain death. He could use this creature if it had a connection to her. He needed the beast to control her while he made a promise, he knew he couldn’t keep at the time he first faced her. However, now he could.

“Do you truly want freedom?” he asked aloud.

This will not end well for him, don't hold out hope.
