INDULGING MOM.
Greetings, my dear friends. Today I’m introducing myself in this community for the first time to share this post. Welcome to my glog, and thank you for your time and visit.
Being a mother is the greatest and most beautiful gift the universe has given me. I have two children, and I’m happy to have contributed to the reproduction of our species. After becoming a mother, my perspective on life completely transformed.
Motherhood is a magical state, an unparalleled experience. Being a mother involves undergoing many biological, emotional, and social changes. The joy children bring is incomparable.
But just as everything in life is a chain, before becoming a mother, you are also a daughter or son, and with time, parents grow old, and roles shift. Mom was always a strong, active, tidy woman, and above all, very agile.
Today, my mother is an elderly woman, and now it’s as if she were my child. I have to care for her, bathe her, feed her, and perfume her. And I do all of this with the greatest affection and pride in the world. It’s my time to give back all the love she gave me and still gives me.
That’s why I spoil her, hug her, and lie down beside her. I like to please her in every way I can. In the yard of my "new" house, there’s a large mango tree 🥭. Don’t ask me what kind of mango it is—I don’t know. What I do know is that they’re delicious. The previous owner told me they were very tasty mangoes, but honestly, that recommendation came from a biased source, so I had my doubts—until now, when the season began and I confirmed it was true. Oh well, just my suspicious nature after being naive so many times.
Turns out, my mom loves mangoes. So today I took the chance to spoil her a little, just as she did for me so many times. My mother suffers from Alzheimer’s, and there are days when she doesn’t recognize anyone, but today was one of those days when she was herself again—talkative and coquettish.
I picked two large mangoes, washed them, peeled them, and sliced them (that’s how she likes them). I served them in her favorite metal bowl with her favorite fork. Elderly people have their routines, and we shouldn’t change that.
She ate it all eagerly. As I watched her savor her healthy snack, she gave me kind glances, and when she finished, she said in her sweet voice:
_Thank you, my love.
I looked at her tenderly and kissed her forehead.
_Oh, Mom... I wish everything were as simple as that.
