Immutable Realms is finally finished!

What’s up, Hive? It’s been 10 days since my last post, which seems impossible to me. This is the the causality of becoming an adult. Our lives speed up exponentially to the point that 10 days can pass you by in the blink of an eye. I’ve been working tirelessly to finish my EOS zine, Immutable Realms. The last week has been a sprint to the finish line in time for a final round of pitches while Pomelo is still open for community donations. In addition to finishing the publication […something that’s taken over six months], I had to also stand up a website that would present the zine to be easily read by others.

This project was the clearest example of my pathological nature in always trying to over perform in expectations. I received a massive grant from the EOS Network Foundation to produce this zine and I needed to feel that I met the trust given to me by the EOS community to make something valuable enough to reflect that endorsement of my vision. I relied on others in the field of DPOS, blockchain, NFT’s and even AI, to help round out the many features of the zine. @mada wrote a piece on EOS into the distant future and @gric and I did a fantastic interview on AI and NFTs.

@swarddraws helped me with some of the art. He did a beautiful piece for a section written using Fractal Fiction. This was a process that used @dan’s fractal democracy approach in More Equal Animals. @lovejoy and I purpose build the process for a creative writing story, breaking the foundation of a story up into the initial voting rounds for participants, [i.e., plot, characters, setting, conflict, point of view, etc.]. This went on to an outline round that was voted on that ended with a writer, editor and advisor role. The final story was written by Sophia Keller and is called, “Moonlight”.

I did a ton of artwork myself including an interpretation of The Ship Of Theseus thought experiment of when enough boards have been replaced and upgraded on a vessel that it becomes a new ship. This told the story of EOS in a narrative way as the blockchain and community has gone through many dramatic twists, highs and lows. I also did a space monkey illustration that compliments EdenOnEOS and a front and back bearded Samurai illustration for the zine’s covers. Overall, I’m infinitely proud of how this project turned out. No idea if I’ll be able to secure funding for a second one, but it was a memorable addition to my journey in blockchain art.
