This controversial debate will remain till the end of time because it doesn't just seem to have a generally agreed-upon side.
I won't lie, I don't support one side. I have seen both sides played out, and I can say that money can change people and also bring out the true character of someone. Hey, this doesn't mean that everyone who started to behave arrogantly when they became rich has that hidden character in them and just needed the availability of money for it to come out. This also doesn't mean that everyone who started to behave differently from how they were behaving when they were poor changed instantly. No, it all depends on the kind of person and also the situation one finds themselves in... because situations and environments can influence too.
There's this guy in our street who says that whenever he hits the honeypot of wealth, he would never get to the point of showing off. In fact, he always underrates the "yahoo guys" who always rush to buy cars and adopt a flashy lifestyle whenever they make money. He said he would never be found on such a lane, even if he made huge money from the "yahoo" thing. Oh yeah, he was already into that(Yahoo), but he wasn't getting the better side of it. When he finally saw money from the business, the person who once said he wouldn't live a flashy life went on to rent a very big, furnished apartment that was way too much for him to live in. He didn't buy a car, though, but he made sure he changed his living lifestyle to a well-to-do type of lifestyle, such that whenever he's coming, one will know that he's in money. I'm not saying that he shouldn't have adapted to living comfortably, but the kind of person he was before he got the money was totally different from the person he became after making money, and totally different from what he preached about when he didn't have money.
With this, it's difficult to say whether money revealed his true character or he completely changed.
I have also experienced some changes in my life during the periods when I had what I termed as "enough money."
