Maybe I really like this weather or maybe I crave the food that we eat on rainy days. Whenever I wake up and see that clouds have gathered in the sky outside it feels a little different. In Bangladesh rain can come at any time. It is not like it only rains during the rainy season. It rains almost all the time but not that much. Most of the time I am doing household work and when I hear the sound of rain on a window or roof I remember whether I have left any clothes outside to dry. Then I run to bring the clothes inside because I don't want the clothes that I have washed and put outside to dry to get wet again. Besides I don't have to think about what to eat on rainy days because it is already decided. The food I am talking about is khichuri which is one of our favorite foods as Bengalis. Is it like we don't eat khichuri at other times? Of course we do but when the rainy season comes or when it rains outside khichuri is mostly cooked at home.
I don't know why but khichuri tastes extra good on rainy days. There are plans to cook other items but still the thought of khichuri comes to mind first. A pot of khichuri with fried eggplant and a poached egg and mixing them all together to eat is so delicious. My mouth is watering even while talking about it. Besides we can also eat it with meat such as chicken or beef but I prefer eating it with pickle so I don't take anything extra with it. Fried eggplant and an egg are enough for me. But the kids like to eat it with chicken so chicken is cooked too. I think this combination is the best during rain. Khichuri does not take that much time to cook but since there are many side dishes to prepare with it takes a little more time than preparing other meals. Anyway no matter how much trouble it takes it feels special to eat something different on a rainy day. After cooking a delicious fragrance fills the whole room. And as soon as they get the fragrance my kids come running to the kitchen. I think the fragrance of khichuri can make people feel happy because who doesn't love delicious food? Then on these rainy days we all sit together and eat khichuri while watching the rain through the window. Besides when it rains I also enjoy drinking hot tea. When all my work is finished I have a cup of tea. It is not possible to take a long break so I try to make my own time better in small moments.
There is only one thing I don't like about rainy days and that is when water collects on the roads or they become muddy. Because of this if I have any plans to go outside I have to cancel them. In many places especially in rural areas floods also happen and poor people suffer a lot because of them so I don't like that kind of excessive rain. হ্যালো বন্ধুরা কেমন আছো তোমরা সবাই আশা করি ভালো আছো আমিও ভালো আছি। আমার একটা সফট কর্নার আছে বর্ষাকালের জন্য এর জন্য সেটা নিয়ে আমি আজকে ব্লগ লিখব। হয়তো এই ওয়েদারটা আমার খুব পছন্দ বা রেইনি ডে তে যে খাবার খাওয়া হয় সেটার ক্র্যাভিং হয়। যখনই ঘুম থেকে উঠে দেখি যে বাইরে আকাশে মেঘ জমে আছে তখন একটু অন্যরকম লাগে। বাংলাদেশে তো যেকোনো সময়ই বৃষ্টি আসতে পারে এমন না যে শুধু রেইনি সিজনে বৃষ্টি হয় প্রায় সব সময় বৃষ্টি হয় কিন্তু অত বেশি না। বেশিরভাগ সময় তো আমি ঘরের কাজ করে তো যখন আমি শব্দ পাই বৃষ্টির কোনো জানালায় বা ছাদে তখন আমার মনে পড়ে যে আমি কোন কাপড় শুকাতে দিয়ে আসছে নাকি বাইরে। এবং দৌড়ে গিয়ে কাপড় গুলো উঠিয়ে রাখি কারণ আমি চাইনা যে কাপড় আমি ধুয়ে রাখছি বাইরের শুকানোর জন্য সেগুলো আবার ভিজে যাক। তাছাড়া আমি বৃষ্টির দিনে চিন্তা করি না যে কি খাবো কারণ ডিসাইড করা থাকে। যে খাবার টার কথা আমি বলতেছি সেটা হচ্ছে খিচুড়ি এটা আমাদের বাঙ্গালীদের একটা প্রিয় খাবার। কেমন নাচে খিচুড়ি অন্য সময় খাওয়া হয় না অবশ্যই খাওয়া হয় কিন্তু যখন বর্ষাকাল চলে বা বর্ষা হয় বাইরে তখনই বেশিরভাগ খিচুড়ি রান্না করা হয় বাসায়।
জানিনা কেন কিন্তু খিচুড়ি একটু এক্সট্রা ভালো লাগে বৃষ্টির দিনে। অন্যান্য আইটেম তো রান্না করার প্ল্যান থাকে কিন্তু তাও মাথার মধ্যে সবার আগে খিচুড়ির কথাটা আসে। এক পট খিচুড়ির সাথে বেগুন ভাজা এবং একটা ডিম পোচ তারপর একসাথে মিক্স করে খাওয়া কতই না সুস্বাদু এখন বলার সময় মুখে পানি চলে আসছে। তাছাড়া চাইলে এটা মিট দিয়েও খাওয়া যায় যেমন চিকেন বা বিফ কিন্তু আমি আচারের সাথে খাওয়া পছন্দ করি এর জন্য কোন সাথে এক্সট্রা কিছু নেই না আমার শুধু বেগুন ভাজা আর ডিম হলেই হয়। কিন্তু বাচ্চারা মুরগির মাংসের সাথে খেতে পছন্দ করে এজন্য মুরগির মাংস রান্না করা হয়। ওর মনে হয় বৃষ্টির মধ্যে কম্বিনেশনটা সবচেয়ে বেশি ভালো। খিচুড়ি রান্না করতে অত বেশি সময় লাগে না কিন্তু যেহেতু অনেকগুলা সাইড ডিশ সাথে রাখতে হয় তাই একটু বেশি সময় লাগে অন্যান্য খাবার তৈরি করার চেয়ে।
যাইহোক যতই ঝামেলার হোক না কেন বৃষ্টির দিনে কিছু ডিফারেন্ট খেতে মজাই আলাদা। রান্না করা শেষে একটা সুস্বাদু ফ্রাগ্রান্স পুরা রুমে ভরে যায়। আর প্রেগনেন্স পাওয়ার সাথে সাথে আমার বাচ্চাগুলা দৌড়ে রান্নাঘরে চলে আসে। আমার মনে হয় খিচুড়ির যে একটা প্রেগনেন্সি সেটা মানুষের মনকে ভালো করে দিতে পারে মনে সুস্বাদু খাবার কার না ভালো লাগে? তারপর এই বৃষ্টির দিনে আমরা সবাই একসাথে মিলে বসে খিচুড়ি খাই এবং জানালা দিয়ে বৃষ্টি দেখি। তাছাড়া যখন বৃষ্টি হয় তখন গরম গরম চা খেতেও খুব মজা লাগে আমার যখন সব কাজ শেষ হয়ে যায় তখন আমি এক কাপ চা খাই। একটা লং ব্রেক পাথর সম্ভব নয় তাই ছোট ছোট সময়ে নিজের সময় টাকে বেটার করার চেষ্টা করি। বৃষ্টির দিনে একটা জিনিসই ভালো লাগে না সেটা হচ্ছে রাস্তায় যখন পানি জমে বা কাদা হয়ে যায়। এর কারণে বাইরে যাওয়ার কোন প্ল্যান থাকলে সেগুলো ক্যানসেল করা লাগে। অনেক জায়গায় আবার যেমন গ্রাম অঞ্চলে ফ্লাড হয় সেটার কারণে গরিব মানুষদের অনেক কষ্ট হয় তাই ওরকম অতিরিক্ত বৃষ্টি পছন্দ আমার। যাই হোক আজকে এ পর্যন্ত এবং তোমরা সবাই আমার ফ্যামিলির জন্য দোয়া করবা।
