This is my first time posting in this community, and it's also my first time expressing my frustration with the Philippine government here on Hive. This time, I simply can't agree with how the country is being governed. In my opinion, the Philippines continues to struggle because corruption remains deeply rooted, and it's heartbreaking to see the nation facing the consequences.
I don't believe the Philippines is a poor country. We are blessed with abundant natural resources and immense potential. However, in my opinion, widespread corruption and poor governance have prevented the country from reaching the progress it is capable of achieving.
As the saying goes, "The rich keep getting richer, while the poor keep getting poorer." Sadly, many Filipinos feel that this reflects the reality we experience every day.
One of the things that truly breaks my heart is the issue surrounding flood control projects in the Philippines. Billions of pesos have been allocated for these projects, yet there have been reports and allegations of ghost projects, raising serious concerns about how public funds are being used.
Even where flood control structures have been built, many people believe that some were poorly designed, poorly constructed, or failed to provide the protection they were meant to deliver. As a result, countless communities continue to suffer from devastating floods, with families losing their homes, livelihoods, and, in the worst cases, even their loved ones.
It is painful to witness such suffering. What saddens me even more is the perception that some corrupt officials seem to care more about enriching themselves than serving the people. While ordinary Filipinos bear the consequences, those responsible often appear untouched, leaving many to question where compassion and accountability have gone.
What hurts the most, in my opinion, is seeing someone who pushed for an investigation into the alleged flood control scandal end up in prison, while many politicians reportedly opposed calls for a thorough investigation. To many Filipinos, this raises difficult questions about justice, accountability, and whether the truth will ever come to light.
All we can do is hope and pray that the Philippines will one day have leaders with the courage, integrity, and determination to stand up against corruption and put the interests of the Filipino people above everything else.
As many Filipinos often say, "The Philippines is a beautiful country to live in, but it's hard to fight for." Despite all the challenges, I still believe our country has incredible potential, and I hope to see the day when honesty, accountability, and good governance prevail.
