Have you ever eaten Burek? In Serbia, that's what we call a special type of pie that can be filled with different fillings, but the most popular burek is with cheese or meat. I'm not a big fan of burek because it's too greasy for my taste, but this time I decided to make it to surprise my son. He is a big fan of burek and today he went to the dentist to get his first tooth out. He was very brave and deserved an award. 😊

I didn't have much time. Luckily, burek is quick to make! 😊

So let's start.

Grease a baking pan with oil.

IMG_20230419_191322.jpg

Place a spoonful of flour in a deep bowl.

IMG_20230419_190623.jpg

120g of oil.

IMG_20230419_190730.jpg

5g of baking powder.

IMG_20230419_230356.jpg

200ml of hot water.

IMG_20230419_230338.jpg

Mix all the ingredients.

IMG_20230419_190909.jpg

You need 300g of cheese.

IMG_20230419_191004.jpg

150g of sour cream (you can use only cheese if you want)

IMG_20230419_230420.jpg

And ready-made pie crusts.

IMG_20230419_191419.jpg

You can make the crusts yourself, but this time I decided on a quick version.

Place two crusts on the bottom of the baking pan so that half of each is out and half is in the pan.

IMG_20230419_191545.jpg

Sprinkle and coat the crust with a mixture of water and oil.

IMG_20230419_191728.jpg

Before each sprinkling, stir the mixture to combine.

Then put another crust and crumple it a bit to fit into the baking pan.

IMG_20230419_192001.jpg

Sprinkle it.

IMG_20230419_192032.jpg

Repeat the process with 2 more crusts and spread the cheese on the third.

IMG_20230419_192333.jpg

Repeat the process in the same way until you have used all the crusts. My son arrived in the meantime and couldn't wait for the burek to be prepared. He watched my every step while I made burek and eagerly awaited the result. 😊

Also coat the last crust with a mixture of water and oil and coat the inside of the crust that is outside the baking pan.

Now cover the burek with the crusts that are out of the baking pan, spread the coating on top and put it to bake in a heated oven at 200 degrees.

This will probably be the fastest pie you've ever made. It's not exactly like a real burek... 😊

But the taste is fantastic! Honestly, I didn't believe it would be so tasty, it didn't seem like that to me.

My son was delighted and I am happy that I made him happy with his favorite Burek pie. 😊

Thank you very much for reading.

The images and writing are original and mine.
