I ought to be writing a post, I said to myself, as I sit here at my computer looking out the window at the gray day.
It's not new news that covid changed so many things the last couple of years. For the past two Christmases, I didn't go to parties with crowds. (or nearly anywhere else) This year I decided to go to some family things, my brother's annual party at his house, one of my sisters had the sisters and Mom over to see her beautifully decorated home one Sunday afternoon. I even met one old friend for lunch out a couple of days before Christmas and went to my Mom's Christmas Day where a good number of my family members were there. It was great fun seeing some of my married nieces and nephews with their small children that I rarely get to see. So... of course for all the fun of Merry Making, I am now sick ! ha ha.... I haven't had so much as a cold in about 4 years. I don't know what I have. I have not done a covid test. If we had never heard of covid, I would have just said I had a simple head cold and that very well could be what it is. These days though, you don't know if something so innocent sounding could develop into something else or just be what it seems, till it either blows up or is gone. I have no other symptoms, just a mussy head. Some members of my brother's family are also sick, fortunately not severely, so I'm pretty sure where it came from.
I haven't posted much for a while. It is not because of the Hive price. I got to Hive before it was hive when the price was around 80 cents. It quickly crashed to around 20 cents and then lay around for a long time around 12 cents, so I was not use to it really being worth anything most of my time here. It was quite delightful when it shot up for a while though. I have simply been focused on other things and not spending a lot of time at my computer.
Santa brought me my first labtop and a piece of art by an artist in Canada I wanted.(Dimitri K. goes by Dima and has a shop on Etsy under ArtByDimaK) Of course I'm extremely happy with both because I am my own Santa Claus and I know what I like LOL ! I have always had PCs for my home computering. I know that makes me a dinosaur of sorts, but I've always liked a full sized keyboard and the such. I decided I wanted around-the-house access sometimes though and I wanted a bigger screen than most tablets have, so now I have a labtop too. It's been fun setting it up and playing around with it.
Lots of folks here are looking forward to some fun party for tonight to see out the old year and ring in the new one. I went to a party or two back in my younger adult years, but mostly I just spent New Year's Eve at home. That is what I will be doing tonight. I nearly always treat myself to some junk food (we're pretending I don't treat myself to such things frequently) that includes some potato chips and french onion dip. All valid parties, even the home alone ones must include that. I have a grocery order that is "supposed" to be delivered between noon and one today and if it gets here and if neither item was out of stock, I will have some tonight as well. I usually do stay up till midnight and I nearly always have turned the TV on to watch the ball drop in Times Square those last minutes of the year. Normally I don't sit for hours watching the party/music programs before the drop as I find them a bit boring, but I do tune in at the last.... well.... just because !
Proof positive that there was a New Year's party somewhere in my past. I would have been between 23 and 25 years old. Believe me when I tell you that is not my normal smile. There must have been something really funny going on at the time. I was back home and of course there had been a drink or two involved during that party...and a LOT of dancing! 馃槀
I don't make resolutions. I laugh and say I made one resolution early on, to never make any New Year's resolutions and that one I have kept ! There's nothing wrong with picking a time in your life, the new year, your birthday or some other life mile marker to make or attempt to make changes in your life. Seems too many times though, for the New Year ones, people choose things that are impossible for them to accomplish for whatever reason. Just one more thing to make you feel like a failure... right ? ha ha...
I would like to choose something different to add to my life. I have no idea what that is. Winter is looming before me, cold weather that I detest and too many gray days that try to drag my spirit down, so I'm always looking for something new and at least partially fun to focus on to pull me through. If I ignore winter while doing fun things, it can't get me ! I don't however, know what the next thing or things will be, but I'm working on rolling some ideas around in my noggin now.
My Mom gave me this fun Ponytail plant for Christmas. I have never had one and I wanted it. I will have to learn to take care of it now and try hard not to kill it ! I try to act confident around it, so it doesn't know it's life could be in peril. I love it's crazy hair !
That's about all the drivel I have for now. I hope you are all doing well, had some fun times during the Christmas holidays however you chose to celebrate.... and that you didn't get sick while doing it LOL !!
