Greetings, dear Hive members who bring the #Catarsis community to life. I've been inactive on Hive for a few weeks now, for personal reasons, and after what happened on June 24th in my country, I felt inspired to resume my writing and vent some of the many thoughts swirling in my head during these anxious times. So here are a few lines to put into words what I'm feeling after such dark days.
How do you move on after a blow that breaks your heart? How do you come to terms with the loss of something that took years of effort, perseverance, and sleepless nights to build?
Sometimes, life shakes us in unexpected ways. The impact can come disguised in many forms: it could be the loss of your own digital space, like a blog where you poured your heart and soul, a physical asset like a house or a car, or even a long-term relationship that, despite love and all your efforts, simply ended.
Each of these losses is painful for a fundamental reason: the time and energy we give are finite resources, pieces of our existence that have no return ticket. When something vanishes, we face the cold reality that that piece of life will never be given back to us.
But the pain intensifies and becomes an unfathomable abyss in the face of the irreparable. Who will give us back the lives that are extinguished in the blink of an eye? It is impossible not to ask ourselves this question when we look around and remember the tragedy that befell thousands of Venezuelans this past June 24, 2026.
In the face of catastrophes of this magnitude, material losses fade into the background, leaving us with the weight of collective grief. How does someone rebuild their life when they have lost absolutely everything? How do you find a new purpose or restore meaning to your days when you walk among the ruins of what used to be your reality?
There are no manuals or step-by-step guides for overcoming pain of this magnitude. No one trains us for absolute emptiness, and the strength to emerge from it doesn't spring from nothing; it is cultivated patiently in the silence of each process.
Each mind is a complex universe, with its own rhythms, its own storms, and its own ways of processing absence. Time, ultimately, is the only healer capable of soothing and softening such deep scars. Yet it is precisely in the midst of this extreme vulnerability that the bravest emerge.
There, from the most absolute fragility, true human resilience springs forth. Getting up each morning, opening your eyes, and forcing yourself to search for a glimmer of light on the horizon requires monumental patience and a quiet courage that makes no noise, but transforms everything.
To move forward on your own or to cling to the love of those around you; to choose to walk, even if you have to crawl and carry a heavy heart... that is pure courage.
For me, those who manage to look ahead and decide to keep going no matter what after having lost everything, regardless of the reason they choose to get back on their feet, are the true everyday heroes who live among us. They don't wear capes, but they hold up the world with their resilience. And today, in the midst of pain, they deserve to be named and recognized.
