I finally got to know Chinatown! My first impression is that it's full of delicious smells, magical dragons and lots of color.
Even before I set foot in Buenos Aires, I was already being recommended to visit Chinatown, as it seems to be a very popular place where (and I quote) "you can eat delicious food," but this is my first winter and my health suffered for more than a month. Thank God, now that it's less cold, I'm fine.
On my first attempt to visit it was so crowded that it was impossible to walk without tripping, so we detoured. We should have imagined that such a popular place would obviously be packed during the winter holidays.
On this second attempt we went on a weekday to find it less crowded and to appreciate its charm.
The decoration of the premises is beautiful and the dragons that guard the entrance are impressive. In addition, there is a great variety of stalls with Asian and even non-Asian food, because I even saw stalls that had tequeños available.
There's a café where they have cats! There was even a sign that said they had kittens for adoption. I just looked from the outside so I don't know what the dynamics are like in this space.
The truth is that it was an exploratory walk because I was very curious, but I didn't have money to spend so that visit lasted as they say in my country: like a doctor's visit, that is to say that it was very short.
Everything looked delicious and smelled delicious. There were lots of eye-catching skewers and fried foods, as well as sweets, fortune cookies, anime-themed sodas, and lots of keychains and toys with manga and anime themes.
I saw a big supermarket, but I didn't go in because I was getting hungry and I thought it was a better idea to go back home, after all Chinatown wasn't the first stop, but rather the last one of the day.
I understand why it's so popular and eye-catching, there's a great atmosphere and it's very colorful, it transmits a lot of good energy. I should come back another day to try some dish. Do you recommend anything in particular?
