Friends of @NaturalMedicine, I didn't search for the topic to post about today; the topic was generated by a real-life situation. We normally talk about the use of herbs for preventative purposes, but on this occasion, Jorgito, a beautiful 5-year-old boy, very important in my life, was taken to the hospital for a mouth injury. The stomatitis was caused by a bite while he was eating, and he subsequently refused to eat, drink, or open his mouth, causing his injury to become infected.

Herbal medicine can be a valuable complement, but it should not be a substitute for conventional medicine for serious illnesses or when urgent medical treatment is needed. However, it is well known that medicine in Cuba is going through an undeniable crisis. Doctors no longer prescribe some medications because they are not available in pharmacies, and when it comes to children, there is no risk of acquiring them in street markets.

Therefore, the doctor recommended curing with plantain.

The plantain is a small plant with four or five leaves attached to the ground. It is generally found in spring and in humid areas. The plantain's scientific name is Plantago lanceolata, and it is also known as Greater Plantain. Its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties are among its benefits.

Procedure

I'll explain my procedure for preparing and applying plantain in cases of stomatitis, ulcers, throat infections, or gum pain. Prepare a disinfected gauze cloth, preferably white and freshly boiled. Take 3 plantain leaves and wash them with plenty of water. Boil half a liter of salted water.

When it begins to boil, insert the leaves by the stem and quickly remove them. Place the leaves on the cloth and wrap them, grouping them together. Gently tap with a spoon until the leaves sway. Then squeeze the leaves, wrapped in the cloth, over a clean saucepan.

The steeped leaves can be used by placing them in boiling water and removing the water after a few minutes. Once the water has cooled, strain it and use it as a gargle or swish. The use of medicinal herbs is a practice in my family, although we always take extreme care in their use.

Here's the application time. We monitored any reactions. We started with a low dose to observe how it progressed. Fortunately, plantain's properties are effective, and within a few days we saw improvement in the treated lesion.

Be sure to consult a professional or your doctor before using herbs, especially if you have a pre-existing medical condition, are taking medication, or are pregnant or breastfeeding. Medicinal herbs are beneficial but can cause allergies if not used properly.
