I have taken medicine through the eyes, and that was when I had an eye issue. I was given eye drops( a syrup), and I used as prescribed. I have also taken medicine through the nose, and that's very common for me because I suffer from catarrh often. I usually use an inhaler to reduce the discomfort. Then there's the mouth. Of course, this is the most common way of taking medicine into our bodies when it comes to using the openings in our body.
Recently, I found out that people also take medicine through the anus.
Hold on.
To avoid making a mistake and criticizing the method, I went to Google, and I found out that taking medicine through the anus is indeed a medically approved method of administering medication.
But how do people do this?
For me, I can only imagine pushing things out, not pulling them in. Can you imagine a pill being placed on the tip of the anus and you're expected to pull it in by yourself? Or a situation where a liquid medicine is placed there and you're supposed to draw it into your body? The whole idea seems strange to me.
Okay, back to what prompted me to pick up my phone and write this.
There was a situation, in fact, it's currently trending in Nigeria, where a guy boldly claimed that his girlfriend suggested they treat the infections they were both suffering from through the anus using an herbal mixture.
Okay, the herbal mixture is not the big deal here; it's how it was administered.
It is said that a hose (pipe) was inserted into the guy's anus, with a funnel attached to the other end, and the herbal mixture (liquid) was poured into it. Jeeeeez!
