¿Alguien recuerda esos dos ungüentos que estaban a la patá en las farmacias cubanas y que vendían a precio de cochino enfermo?
Guajiro cubano que se respetara tenía sobre el escaparate aquellos pomos carmelitas. Y hasta un preparo de alcohol con aspirinas machacadas para aliviar la “sajornadera” del entre muslo o el hongo que salía entre los dedos de los pies por tanto andar descalzo entre el fango.
Había timerosal para echarse en las heridas y en los raspones. Y los “nacíos “ ciegos se maduraban con mastitis. La mastitis también servía para las ubres de las vacas.
Con solo cinco pesos cubanos podías tener todos esos productos a la vez. Estábamos llegando a la mierda. Pero todavía quedaban esas cosas en las farmacias.
Cuídense del sol. Y salgan del fango.

And even a concoction of alcohol with crushed aspirins to soothe the chafing between the thighs or the fungal infection that would appear between the toes from walking barefoot through the mud so much.
There was thimerosal to apply to wounds and grazes. And the blind ‘nacíos’ were left to fester with mastitis. Mastitis was also used for cows’ udders.
For just five Cuban pesos, you could get all those products at once. We were heading for the scrap heap. But those things were still available in the chemists.
Mind the sun. And get out of the mud.
