She had been waiting for him so they will have dinner together but he arrived with a poker face. Then he kissed her to say hello. That means it wasn't her but something or somebody else had made his mood sour. She wanna ask what's wrong but "later..." said her thoughts so she just asked him whether he'd go take a shower or dinner first. He said dinner. "He must be hungry just as I am," she was talking inside her head as she prepared the table while he rested on his usual spot in the house.
Earlier that day, she sent him a message requesting for him to take home a box of pizza 'coz she was craving for some slices after being teased by the lions. It's Pizza Day they said and shared pizza photos on threads where she hangs out often.
He called back saying he'll try if he'd catch up with the store because he will be coming home late. She sighed inaudibly... Him saying he'd be late means he won't be arriving until 9 pm. Well, it's okay.
Anyway, she got dinner ready in no time and they had their tummies filled a bit and then it was time to enjoy the pizza he brought home. "What made you order pizza?" he asked smiling. He must be surprised because that is one rare occasion. "I saw them in photos and I suddenly wanted to eat some so thank you for this," she replied with a big grin as she gave him a smack on his cheek. The pizza wasn't the best, but at least it satiated her cravings.
They enjoyed each of their slices and whilst they finish their coffee, he started opening up, sharing something about her sister's marriage woes which had been going on for sometime. It is so unexpected, but do we really expect something like that to happen? Who is she kidding?
That's why he had that face on coming home. Such a heavy burden. She felt hurt for them too. Such a shame that a relationship would end just like that. Memories of the distant past begun flooding back to her. They bought those two their wedding rings, helped them a bit as they start a living. They grew wings, started soaring. Then this thing happens...
Guess she will never get used to hearing couples splitting up even when she had a fair share of them in her own circle. That makes 5 of them in her immediate clan, 2 of whom her husband's siblings, and one her own brother. Although she did not witness all their days, she never thought their relationships would turn so sour until things happened.
But she found her voice saying, "well, if that's what makes them happy and live at peace, then it's for their own good. We can't force them to stay together for the sake of the kids. It will destroy them further."
He nodded.
She knew he tried his best to make them change their minds and perhaps reconsider, even traveled to their place not once but a couple of times in the last 30-40 days. Still, it's ending that way so there isn't anything much they can do anymore but wish them well in their separate lives and ventures.
On seeing the photos of the love locks on her gallery, she couldn't help but feel a bit of scorn. But in her heart wished that those who left their love locks would truly have an eternal and unbreakable love and that they will get through thick and thin just as they may have promised.
