Hi hivers. January is almost finished. Hadn’t I noticed, the Valentine’s specials that are now popping up, would have brought it to my attention.

Well, I went there again and this time, the Valentine’s specials were out. I added a few to my tray and also picked up “pon de ring”, my favorite. The donuts were carefully and nicely packed in a box. The hearty specials were noir heart, blanche heart and rouge heart, three kinds.
When I got home, I took some shots of the donuts. I tried using different layouts and background colors. Some worked well and others, not so well. Below you can see hints of a red and yellow background. I loved the contrast of the yellow and the color of the donuts but felt like red worked better with the theme.
The kids were as usual, excited for donuts but interestingly, chose to eat the pon de ring before having the specials. I thought they weren’t that interested in the heart ones but later realized that huzzy and I were lucky to have two left. The kids left the blanche heart ones for us.
Love was on the plates and in the air. I quickly thought about setting up a nice little spot in the house for huzzy and I to have a little tea time, donut time and quiet time. With our active and sometimes noisy boys, this wasn’t necessarily easy but it worked. 😆
I decided to make us some lemon grass -ginger tea. I used freshly grated ginger, bits of lemon grass and a bit of brown sugar.
I added the ingredients to my teacup strainer, not exactly sure if that’s the name of it but… maybe that works.
It was my first time using it. It was a gift I got from a good friend, maybe two years ago. I then added boiling water and placed the cover of the cup on for a few minutes.
I then removed the strainer from the cup and poured tea in some heart-shaped containers. There weren’t exactly cups but worked well with the theme. I plated our donuts and off we went in our little space for tea-time. A mini-home date it was.😃
The ginger was strong but went well with the delicious donuts. No time like tea time.
