Hello, friends, especially foodies!
This was my first attempt at making homemade donuts, and I wanted to try a recipe that was as simple as possible—no kneading and no mixer needed!
The recipe is surprisingly easy, making it a great option for a quick homemade treat.
Ingredients:
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp (3 g) instant yeast
- 120 ml lukewarm water
- 250 g high-protein all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp milk powder
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 heaped tbsp (40 g) margarine
- A pinch of salt
- Cooking oil, as needed, for frying and for brushing the oil paper
For the toppings, I used donut sugar, chocolate spread, chocolate sprinkles, cream cheese, and grated cheese.
Step by Step: How I Made It
I put the yeast into a cup, poured in the lukewarm water, covered it, and waited for around 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, I prepared the dough. I put the flour, milk powder, sugar, egg yolks, and the activated yeast mixture into a bowl. I stirred everything together and then added the margarine.
I added a pinch of salt and continued stirring until all the ingredients were well combined and the dough was nicely blended.
After that, I covered the bowl with plastic wrap. After waiting for about 1.5 hours, the dough had expanded nicely. I removed the plastic wrap and punched the dough down to release the air inside.
I prepared the oil paper by cutting it into pieces and brushing a little oil on top of each piece.
Then, I divided the dough into 8 fairly equal portions. I shaped each piece into a round ball, placed it on the oiled paper, and made a hole in the center.
Finally, I fried all the donuts.
Topping time!
I added different toppings to the donuts. Some had donut sugar, some had chocolate sprinkles, and some had grated cheese. I also tried chocolate spread and cream cheese for some of them.
VOILA, This Is It!
My First Trial Donuts 🍩
They were still not quite perfect. The texture was a little hard, so next time I'm going to try to improve the recipe.
But you can also try this recipe at home and make your own homemade donuts!
