Today was an amazing day! It truly was and here's why!
It came as an ordinary day. Same as yesterday, the day before and the day before that, but what made it amazing is that it was full of events. I can't say they were really big events but just things that made me feel good and joyful.
It started off with me taking action. I knew I wanted to walk this morning so I got everything ready to take Piper on a nice long walk.
I got this belt thingy where I can attach the leash to the belt and walk hands free. Comes with a water bottle, a place to put it of course, a pouch for accessories and a place to stash dog treats.
A little about this belt; the pros are pretty obvious, you can walk your dog hands free, its handy with the water bottle, its comfortable and the material is not rough.
The cons are serious. If your dog is not well trained for walking, I don't suggest using this. With Piper, I had some good training with her, but still wouldn't use it while walking her around people, animals and cars. So if your dog gets distracted and wants to take off after... let's say a dragonfly, like in Pipers case today, then don't use it. I was lucky to be able to give my dog a treat quickly enough before she decided to drag me everywhere. A side note on this part, you'll want to train your dog really well if you have a large breed...Especially for a large dog.
Another thing is even though detaching the leash from the clasp thingy is fairly simple, it can still be a struggle when you need to untie your dog incase of an emergency. Example, I live in the north, so if I encounter a bear while my dog is attached to me, I'm pretty much good for the bears lunch meat. My dog would just go nuts bouncing around, barking and then running away as she drags me down the road behind her.
Other than that, I love it. with my wrists being bad, this makes it fairly simple for me and I was lucky to have not seen any bears.
This is where my journey began. Can you see the difference from the pictures I have shared before? There's no snow!!!!! Woohoo! And the bonus part is the trees have grown their leaves! It's all green. YAY!
I was actually going to walk up the hill by the highway and take a trail but for some reason, I was meant to go this way.
Beautiful day, windy to keep the bugs at bay, cool enough to wear a sweater but nice enough to wear shorts, wonderful for a fast pace walk.
During my walk I found a few neat things to look at. Like this shrub showing the first growth of flowers (apart from dandelions that is).
I crossed over a river with such a lovely scenery,
...the other side.
And then I stumbled upon some treasure!
Can you see it? I'm sure you can see rocks and grass, but what else, look closely.... BONES! And there was lots! And with Pipers good nose, she helped me find more. I grabbed as much as my hoodie pocket could carry with 2 big pieces in my hand. Of course I couldn't walk away empty handed... Who do you think I am? :P
Ya perhaps, I might have destroyed a crime scene but who cares! I got bones!
After collecting what I could, I hurried home to check out my new collection. I kept the fast pace and made it back in good timing. The Actifit app showed me I had a little over a 13K step count, but that was just my morning walk, not my days total :D Gotta count that too with having kids and running all over the place ;)
So what is it exactly that I've found? No idea. It could be a medium size animal. I can't say it was hunted by people, even though there was an old campfire, beer cans and a shotgun shell on the ground. For the bones to be this cleaned off, I am assuming that this happened long before that.
I am curious to know what I have here, I can only identify the ribs and the spine pieces. With my imagination, I like to think that there is an eerie mystery behind these findings that we will never find out its story. How cool!
With having to put my bone curiosity aside, I left my pile of bones to do some more gardening. That ended fairly quick outside as it began pouring! The wind picked up 5 times more than what I had during my walk, and the rain just came out of nowhere, trapping me in my greenhouse. So I just kept on planting in my greenhouse til I was able to go back outside.
The next best event that happened in my day was when my kids got home. We hurried to eat our supper as there was a kids dance being held at the community center, organized by the Girl Guides leaders. The kids ran more than they ever did dance, playing tag and all sorts of games but it was still a joy to see the kids have fun with other kids just being kids. I didn't mingle with other parents, didn't feel right, not my crowd I suppose, but seeing my kids laugh and play was more than worth it.
Can't tell on here but Frankies face has been painted. I couldn't get a clear picture of the other kids as they were just moving around and couldn't get them to sit still and that is perfectly fine. I am happy for them _
So this is what made my awesome day. I got time spent alone with my dog exercising on a beautiful day while listening to some great music, I even danced as I walked. I gardened and I got to let my kids be kids. Time well spent I would say. And as the day is ending, it is time to take it all in and be grateful that I was given such a wonderful day.
