Wonders never cease with this Meat Free Pate created by De Vegetarische Slager (The Vegetarian Butcher) that looks like Pate, smells like Pate and certainly tastes like Pate. I was never a fan of Pate itself for obvious reasons, but this is a delicacy in the UK and the Brits absolutely love it. I'm sure they would love this meat free one just as much, if not even more. Let's start with the look, could you tell the difference?

The Pate spreads so well and knowing that this is conscience as well as meat free food, it tastes all the better. There is a lot of controversy here in the Netherlands regarding the usage of terms from the meat industry in this emerging vegetarian market, such as Pate, Sausage, Filet Americain, and so on. The critics state that it is misleading the consumer into buying something that it is not what is detailed on the packet, as the terms are related to the meat industry alone. In my personal opinion, that's the whole ingenious aspect of this company and its products, otherwise the meat lovers in the world would never see a realistic alternative that satisfies the cravings, which meat fills.
