Pienso que en sentido general casi siempre se nos aflora cierta resistencia al cambio, ya sea por acomodo o por temor. He tenido experiencias personales que me han demostrado la necesidad de realizar cambios.

Después de graduarme como Licenciado en Educación en las asignaturas de Español y Literatura; durante doce años trabajé como profesor y jefe de cátedra en un preuniversitario que me quedaba distante. Durante ese tiempo tuve otras buenas ofertas, pero me resistía al cambio, hasta que surgió la necesidad de que supliera una plaza de metodólogo municipal durante un año; entonces acepté ya que era algo temporal. El caso es que se complicó la situación: quien fungía como metodólogo provincial se jubilaba, y me pidieron que asumiera esa responsabilidad.
After graduating with a degree in Education in of Spanish and Literature, for twelve years I worked as a teacher and professor in a pre-university that was far away from me. During that time I had other good offers, but I resisted the change, until the need arose for me to fill a position as a municipal methodologist for a year; then I accepted since it was something temporary. The thing is that the situation became complicated: the person who was acting as provincial methodologist was retiring, and I was asked to assume that responsibility.

En esa nueva labor tenía que permanecer mucho tiempo fuera de casa, por lo que después de 4 años tomé decidí cambiar y me trasladé para la Enseñanza de Adultos , donde podía permanecer mayor tiempo junto a mi familia.
Después de transcurrir cuatro años, tuve la oportunidad de desempeñarme como profesor en el Instituto Vocacional de Ciencias Exactas de Pinar del Río. Nuevamente analicé lo que tenía a favor y en contra para tomar la determinación, aunque confieso que no me resultó difícil, pues allí trabajaba mi esposa y estudiaban mis dos hijas.

Again I analyzed what I had for and against to make the decision, although I confess that it was not difficult for me, since my wife worked there and my two daughters were studying there.
Cinco años más tarde se me presentó la oportunidad de optar por una plaza en la Universidad de Pinar del Río, en la carrera de Estudios Socioculturales. Confieso que tenía mis temores, sin embargo allí me sentí plenamente realizado durante 17 años hasta mi jubilación. Esta fue otra decisión muy fuerte, pues por un lado tiraba mi amor a la profesión, y por el otro el tiempo para dedicarle a mi familia.
En esta trayectoria, precisamente en el preuniversitario donde trabajé durante doce años, se produjo el cambio más importante de mi vida, allí conocí a mi esposa y nos casamos, siempre doy gracias a Dios por la familia que hemos construido.

Otro cambio significativo, que pudiera resultar útil a otras personas, fue cuando dejé el habito de fumar debido a que por una parte dañaba mi salud y por la otra afectaba la economía familiar. Compré una cajetilla de cigarros con el propósito de no abrirla (cuando un fumador no los tiene es cuando más lo necesita). Todos los días compraba leche para mis niñas y pensaba que esos eran mis cigarros: sentía inmenso placer. Desde entonces (hace treinta años) nunca he vuelto a fumar.
Another significant change, which could be useful to other people, was when I quit smoking because on the one hand it was damaging my health and on the other hand it was affecting the family economy. I bought a pack of cigarettes with the purpose of not opening them (when a smoker does not have them is when he/she needs them the most).
