Hello to the entire community!!

I work at the Institute of Geology and Paleontology – Geological Survey of Cuba, a center of utmost importance for science, research, and the economic development of Cuba, but what truly matters are the people who make up the Institute. Most of us get along well 😁, of course, because in every family there are always black sheep, and a minority of us know how to enjoy ourselves and have a great time with the simplest things.

Day-to-day life at the Institute goes by with researchers sitting in front of a computer, stressed either over a study area or with some data processing software that they just can't quite figure out 😁. But on this specific day of the photos, it wasn't a workday, but rather a day off in "friend mode" to celebrate Geologist's Day (October 24).

There are many veteran colleagues at the Institute whose soul is that of a young person, and that's why we young people get along so well with them. But there are other veterans who take pride in all their experience and really don't know how to relax, because they always want to talk about work with the newcomers even though the moment should be about something else.

Well, not working is great 😁, and even more so when you're having a good time with casual chats and laughter. Spaces like these promoted at the Institute bring us closer together and fill our cell phone galleries with memories—although there's always someone who doesn't like taking pictures and I really don't get it, which is why I take pictures with them anyway even if they don't want to 🤣.

The older folks at my job have very fun ways of passing the time: things they used to do in their youth that they share with the new generations. I had a lot of fun with one of the games, and at the end of the day, it is very rewarding to share time with coworkers, not just focusing on the heavy part of the job, but also on what makes us special and very human.
