It is very difficult to beat the birds to these berries! When mature, the berries look very similar to wild raspberries! (Always be sure to positively identify any thing you harvest in the wild, or cultivate in a food forest as sustainable food source!) They grow wild in many areas which makes the suitable for encouraging in a permaculture food forest! They need little tending, but you may wish to cover at least a few of the bushes with netting to be sure you are able to reap the rewards of cultivation! They are also an excellent food source for wildlife so it doesn't hurt to leave some for the animals!
These berries can be used in jams and jellies or whatever other uses you can imagine... provided you are able to pick enough of them!
