We hang our heads as we accept our role
We must pay attention
We must follow
We must abide
We must believe
Our worth becomes an inverse reflection of the pain in others
We are not good enough
We cannot succeed
We cannot win
We do not try
The longer it clings, the more our hearts burn with the heat of its presence
We can let go
We can be aware
We can lead
We have a choice
We choose to believe
Shame serves to control those who desire to live
Shame is a servant and a slave that offers negative returns correlated with time
We can choose to be controlled by its subtle power
We can choose to take our power back
We can lift our heads
We can challenge the shame throwers
We can call it out for the pain inducer it is
And give it permission to vacate our inner space
We are not children
There is nothing to be afraid of
When shame demands our attention
Only only we can let it go
