My dear beehive, happy and blessed beginning of the week.
I want to share a delicious Creole dessert, homemade, and very traditional, from the state of Apure. We are on the eve of Holy Week or Semana Mayor, and it is very noticeable in some places the preparation of different types of sweets which are made in order to share with family and visitors.
Here in my state of Apure, sweets are made for two purposes, the first to share with the family, and the second for sale, thus offering our visitors tourists the opportunity to enjoy and delight with our gastronomy and tradition.
On this occasion I want to share the elaboration of a Plum candy. Taking advantage of the season since at this time the great harvests of this sweet and tasty tropical fruit are beginning. Here it is sold in the houses along the national highways, in the markets and even inside the buses in small transparent bags.
The sweets for me are a source of great anecdotes, since in the 80's my mother used to make them and send us to sell them on the banks of the Apure River where many people arrived with different merchandise and others did fishing and other jobs.
- 1 and a half kilograms of ripe or green plums
- 700 grams of sugar
- 1 medium cup of water
Paso a paso:
Step by step:
Wash and chop the main part of the plums, then bring to 馃敟 high a pot with the cup of water, when it boils add the plums, sugar and let cook for 1 hour.
When the caramel begins to thicken and the plum rind detaches from the seed, turn off the heat and set aside until it cools, then take it to the refrigerator to be consumed very cold, you can serve it with soda crackers or rice pudding.
