If you haven't tried any of the Beyond Meat plant-based meals yet, but are facing some potential beef and pork shortages in your area, you might find yourself considering it as an option soon.

At least that is what the Beyond Meat CEO is hoping people will do, recently declaring that they are looking to win people over while the competition is reaching a tipping point right now and being disrupted. They think they have a good opportunity to swoop in now and build some momentum.

But from what some might have seen at the grocery store over the past several weeks, when the meat choices were looking slim, was that there were still plenty of plant-based meat packages available. Perhaps many still would rather go without instead of resorting to eating something like yellow pea protein burgers.

For some that might be open to trying the products though, this could well be the perfect time to introduce an alternative when people might have difficulty finding their usual beef and pork, or chicken options etc.

A Cheaper Option

Price might have been standing in the way of some people trying a new plant-based meat option, well they are looking to address that this summer too.

"we're going to take aggressive pricing over the summer to be able to make our product be much more closer to the animal-protein equivalent." - E. Brown, Beyond Meat CEO

For the last couple of months they have already been seeing a surge in sales, they've doubled their numbers over the 3 month period that the competition was slowing down and selling out etc.

Prior to the meat slowdown there was already strong interest being shown for Beyond Meat and other plant-based alternatives.

Surveys also found that many customers admit they would be excited to try such a food alternative and as much as 40 percent or more who have tried it say they would make a purchase of it again.

It has also been discovered that many people who have tried and purchased this food option have found the prices to be too high for these plant-based items and say they need to be lowered.

Since many individuals who have been trying Beyond Meat and other alternatives have admitted to using it as a substitute and not a replacement for animal protein entirely, it's safe to assume that if their usual meat choices were more restricted that this might fuel increased sales for usual substitutions like plant-based burgers.
