Hello, friends especially foodies!
Last Saturday mom asked to me to go to Little Japan. Little Japan is the newest culinary area in my city which was located in the neighbourhood near the hospital where she would meet her internist. Maybe you wonder how could my mom know about this new thing? She recently likes to scroll her instagram, where this new culinary promoted this place. So there we had our new foodie adventure. Do you curious just liked us? Let’s check it out!
Located on a corner of Timbul Street, they only had some food stalls around. We reached this area in at 12 something. We needed to arrive there after 12 because they said in the promotion that they opens at 12 daily. What we saw around was a little japanese style corner in a neighbourhood. The stalls there were Missbar which had the dining area on their roof top (A bit pity and later in this article still I would tell you why we couldn’t be there that day). There they also had the stall which sold coffee, bento and there you go, finally we could find the ramen stall. What I said stalls actually were the restaurants which was located in this integrated area.
Unfortunately to reach this small street, you needed to walk from the big street at the front. Plus the parking areas they had only available for motorcycles, better when we dropped there by car at the front. Oh my and this area was also not as pretty as they put the videos in the instagram!
Here how the ramen stall looked
You should slide the door to enter.
After went inside we were surprised because the waitress gave us the menu then she asked me to order and pay before eating, some kind usually happened in the food court. Ok then, let’s take a look what kind of Japanese Ramen they sold..
You could see they only offered 5 kind of ramen, 2 of them, chasu and spicy chasu ramen were dried. While the other 3 were with soup, the choice were josho, tantan and katsu. There they also had appetizer like grilled or fried gyoza, mini chasu don, tori karaage and edamame. For the dessert they had vanilla ice cream, japanese milk pudding and katsu banana. And for the drink, they only had ocha, air mineral, softdrink and soya miruku. The other unique drinks like sakura latte, matcha float and others were sold by kopi timbul, a coffee stall in the same area.
After had ordered and paid (of course), i took some pictures there.
The dining area was small, only had around 7 tables. There on some wall they had some japanese masks (behind me), the wall decor of Japanese manga (only papers). They only use small money for this place, as you could see it had inexpensive decor. All the furnish were just okay, i mean they even didn't have same color of wood between the chairs and tables. Fortunately they had air conditioner here, and on the 2nd floor they also had another dining area. So it wouldn't be only this small.
Then, the waitress delivered our cutlery in a glass of hot water and also the ocha.
Finally after waiting around 10-15 minutes our ramen came.. here how it looked
You could see the different between ours, mom's was dry ramen, while mine with the soup. All looked yummy, right?
Now how about the flavour of each? First, mom's was Chasu Men.
It had dried texture of ramen which means the noodle didn't serve with the soup. It had savory flavour with sweet beef on the top. Weird because it was sweet for the beef chop topping. Mom's also served with boiled egg and crispy skin. Unfortunately the egg was a bit fishy, so mom didn't like it. Well overall she didn't like it..
But mine, josho ramen was different.
It had deep broth soup, thick with savory flavour. Plus it had beef slices topping also in savory flavour which was tasty and reminded me of pork ramen. Mine also completed with roast seaweed. So perfect! The problem was the portion was small so it might be not enough for boys.
And they also had fresh ocha (japanese green tea).
It had deep japanese ocha flavour, served warm and tasty too. Plus it was free flow, but you should ask for the refill to them.
For two portions of ramen and a glass of green tea we paid 91K or around 6.2 USD. The ramen were 39K and 42K, not expensive and it was normal.
Anyway now i would like to tell you why we couldn't go to the missbar at the rooftop after we finished from this place. First it was cloudy so bad that it would rain later, then the stair was too frightening, too high and didn't comfortable to step on. The waiter said it would be slippery during the rain. Look how it looked..
At the top was only the outdoor dining area with the japanese outlook, maybe it would be look prettier at night but i think the stair would be a night challenge, lol..
Anyway mom was disappointed because this place was not like how they showed in their instagram, the place was just so so and unfortunately mom's ramen was also not tasty, but mine was tasty so i was not too upset actually :)..
Wanna come and see this place by yourselves? I recommend you the josho ramen when you passed the ramen stall..
