Hello, friends especially foodies!

Last Saturday like I told you I went to Sarinah Building, the oldest shopping center in my city, Jakarta with my Mom. There we had some unforgettable culinary experience. We had some traditional cakes from Bandung, then we went to try our country delicate food (which I would share with you soon), and we also had an opportunity to visit one of the most popular place to have mom’s favorite croissant.

When we arrived there, it was almost 11 am (but actually we already had a BIG breakfast before), so we didn’t need any main dishes to fulfill our tummies.

Canggu Bake House was located on the 1st floor, just a stair from the lobby.

This place is popular here in my city, and this was our first time to visit this place. Previous time we passed by this place, so many customers were there. Actually the name Canggu, referred to a beach which is located in Bali, a favorite place for tourists to surf. This place sold the coffee from Bali and it also has a sister company restaurant in Bali.

It had an open concept and when you came there, you could just see the croissants. Where they put on the glass stair and all you could do was pointing them.

Unfortunately when we came there (even at that time) the variants of the croissants were only five. That time they had butter croissant, pain au chocolate , cheese, double chocolate, and canggu boy (coffee flavour).

While for the drink, you could choose from the back top of their stall.

You could see that they had many kind of coffee beverages there like espresso, Americano, piccolo, cappuccino, latte, magic, mocha, and affogato. For signature Iced Coffee they had Aren Latte, Caramel Latte, Matcha Espresso, Peppermint Mocha, Caramel Orange Latte, and Caramel Machiatto. They also still had three kind of iced blended drinks in matcha, oat raspberry oreo, and espresso frappuccino. And they had also non coffee drinks like chocolate, matcha latte, iced tea or iced lemon tea. Plus healthier choice I never found in any places, oat milk series in iced oat brown latte, oat matcha, blue vanilla and honey oat latte.

There we needed to pay first, then they would deliver our order after it well prepared (condition: the store was not crowded the time we were there). The price of the plain butter croissant, pain au chocolate and also iced chocolate we ordered was 82,5 K IDR or around 5.5 USD. I think it is a normal price for the croissants and chocolate, but wait, the price list on their menu is excluded the charge so it would cost us extra 10% from the price.

Ok now for the dining area that they had was not large, only some small areas that a bit separated, with the wooden floor. Some had sofas, the furnish was dominated with natural wood color, blush of turquoise on the sofa and also where we sat had soft grey arm chair, also with the wooden natural theme handles.

This place had cozy atmosphere for you to have breakfast or even brunch like we did, while chit-chat.

After around 10 minutes, our order came. Ta da, the croissants were in the paper bag, while the drink, in a single used plastic cup.

Iced Chocolate

Mom couldn’t wait to try the chocolate iced they served.

It had thick chocolate, and extra tasty milk blended on it. It had thick rich chocolatey taste in sweet bitter choco flavour. Tasty and fresh! You should try this chocolate drink, we found this one is the best!

We also had great time there with their croissants. Both of us chose our favourite.

Plain croissant

the texture was crunchy outside but soft smooth moist inside. It had buttery flavour and you could still tastiness of the croissant dough inside. The whole flavour was savory tasty, and it also non greasy. For the croissant, mom loves how they make it so perfect.

Pain au Chocolate

I am a chocolate lover so my favorite croissant is pain au chocolate. Like I said they made real good croissants there, mine was also so good, crunchy outside and soft inside. I loved they used the real chocolate bar that melted perfectly inside, so I could got the taste of real chocolate in my favorite croissant, great!

We had a great brunch there on affordable price, all the croissants and drink was great, so next time we would surely come to try they other menus there at Canggu Bake House, Sarinah – Central Jakarta!
