馃悡Gracias por acompa帽arme.

ENGLISH VERSI脫N
Metaphorically speaking, the Indian Nabor铆, the father of the tenth in Cuba, said that the rooster is "Napoleon with spurs", an allusion to the Mesoamerican warrior and bravery of the feathered bird.
The rooster is also associated with the ancient gladiators of the Roman Empire, which always brings to mind the legendary Spartacus, the slave (gladiator) who put Rome in check with his uprising.
The The rooster, within Cuban culture and identity, is a well-recognized symbol, as it has been part of Sunday entertainment in the countryside, with the famous fights of these animals on the fences of rural hamlets.
I remember that in my not-too-distant childhood, at the end of the peripheral neighborhood where I lived, there was a fence where practically every weekend the fights of those brave animals were held.
That was not a fence. any; It was built with all the characteristics of a Colosseum for that type of feathered gladiators, who seem to have been created for confrontation and battle for life or death.
But that place deserves a separate post, and I will soon give it to you.
Already in 19th century painting, the Spanish painter V铆ctor Patricio Landaluce, trying to ridicule the Cuban rooster, left testimony of that tradition in some of his pictorial works. Later, Eduardo Abela and Mariano Rodr铆guez also included, from their personal perspectives and poetics, the theme of roosters and roosters.
In Cuba, the best known and renowned rooster is the famous "Gallo de Mor贸n", symbol and identity of a municipality in the province of Matanzas, where at the entrance to that town a sculpture of a gigantic Spanish rooster was erected.
But it is not the history of the rooster that I come from. talk to them, but about the impression left on me by seeing two of those feathered warriors in full battle. And although cockfights are a deep-rooted Cuban tradition, for me they are still a very dramatic way to have fun and pass the time. Perhaps I am too sensitive to such an everyday event like this.
To me, the fight between two of these beings seems brutal and indolent. Well, although I know that these little animals, from the moment they are born (the fine roosters), are trained to kill, it seems to me like a fight between two people who, without any justified evil, suddenly grab each other with blows or knives until they tear themselves apart, with the possibility of the death of one of them.
Human beings have countless hobbies to entertain themselves, but there are some that I do not sympathize with. It is clear that it is with those who stimulate violence, combat and death to create pleasure and personal satisfaction.
Bullfights, cockfights and dog fights, among others, are part of the list of animals in front of which I do not sit or stand to observe the pulse of death beating in every second.
I do not understand, and I know that there are great personalities who daily fight for peace and non-violence, and who, on the other hand, have fun in the face of bloodshed or the death of two animals that have been hated in advance. I also don't like human sports where people, for simple moral or material recognition, hit others without measure or mercy.
I live in a neighborhood surrounded by some people where the main hobby is cockfighting.
Today, precisely, when I entered the hamlet almost in front of my house, there was an informal stop of two wrasse with spurs (with artificial spurs and very sharp, pointed, ideal for killing). I arrived just as the fight was starting and the opponents were fresh and very active. As I passed by, it occurred to me to ask the owners for permission to take photos of the scene, and I received approval, obtaining snapshots for this post.
It was all the time that I was present in the battle, but long enough to realize how impassive we can be in the face of other people's pain. Because, while one of the two roosters moaned because of the bite or the spur of the other, the people who were watching grew gloomy and celebrated the bloodthirsty superiority in the blow.
I took the photos and entered my house, and after a while my wife tells me: "Look, you missed the end of the fight for your post." El Indio, as soon as you left, killed Canelo.
I had a strange sensation, a feeling of agony in my chest. And despite everything I understand about the tradition, entertainment and identity of cockfighting in Cuba and for Cubans, I don't quite understand why, like back in ancient Rome, someone has to die (even if it's a rooster) so that another can have fun and jump for joy and pleasure. I felt sad for the result of the battle for no reason between the opponents, only that they were fighting cocks (fine), and I was glad that I had not seen the end, which would not have been shown in the photographic report either.
Humanity does not only feel in the face of the human, but also in the face of the inhuman things that we do as humans.
Thank you for joining me.
