IN ENGLSH

People attack me a lot; They roll their eyes and twist their mouths every time someone next to me talks about the future and I tell them that the topic doesn't interest me.

A few days ago, I read the headline of a post in Holos & Lotus that began with a question, more or less along these lines: if you had the opportunity, what question would you ask the future? And I, who recognize that I was only left with the question - since I did not read the writing - think that it would not occur to me to ask such a question, since I would have nothing to ask of something that does not exist.

I know that now a whole avalanche of concepts and definitions of the future can come to my mind. And although everyone would be right, I would continue giving the same answer: the future as I conceive it does not exist. And some would say: but what a stubborn guy this Santa Fe is!

Once, ironically, I quoted a song by the Cuban singer-songwriter Silvio Rodríguez that he called very excitedly back in the seventies of the last century: I invite you to believe me when I say future.

The entire generation of that time and the later ones (in Cuba) were dazzled in advance by the famous twenty-first century. Something similar to a development that was already shown in films like Star Wars, full of technological advances and many of the problems of human beings in general resolved.

The standard of living dreamed of in those years for these, sometimes had to be moderated by the frequency of enthusiasm.

It has been more than twenty decades since the ship of the future landed with all the cloudy passengers within the century of illusions and expectations, and every day the promised land becomes another future.

Ironically, we now have a hybrid, a domestic and almost social way of life that moves between photovoltaic cells and archaic charcoal. Tremendous development!

Many really missed the present, reserving it for the future, and others still have not gotten off a ship that has nowhere to land.

Effect of the future

It was six thirty in the morning; the neighborhood was still completely in the last hours of sleep. A whistle sounded timidly and a voice that, on a bicycle, also felt timid and as if with shame or shame.

The bread, the bread...!

He advanced into the neighborhood with his palliative option for the bankruptcy of his original profession, while repeating his little proclamation.

Ummmm! That sacker (seller) is new! —I exclaimed.
Nooo! That's Yoavani, the stoker! —we said at the same time.

In a brief pre-saquero biography of Yoavani "the stoker", it must have been during those years in which Silvio called for people to believe him when he said "future", when he started as an apprentice stoker, in equipment of this type that used fuel to function. Later, he developed his own workshop and, in the competition, achieved a personal seal, with a wide clientele with which he could have the luxury of even selecting clients and repair times.

The Devil already knew more about being old than about being the Devil!

Yovvani was about to reach the highest degree of mastery in the noble trade of stoker, when heavy items of useless future began to fall from the ceiling of his workshop. One morning, perhaps the most painful for him, he took a gunny sack and, silently leaving the neighborhood, went to make his debut at the bakery. Fearfully, he went back to reselling his first pounds of bread.

Many will tell me that multi-tasking is a natural thing in the work life of many people around the world, but they also know what we are talking about.

This post is not a particular story either.

But in the seventies of the last century, the present, from where the future was dreamed of, was less chaotic, murky and pathetic than today's (Cuba), where one can stay on the waterline of the The present, for many, is more than a dream: a nightmare.

And you, what question would you ask the future?
