I haven’t really spent much time playing Hive-based games in the past. The first one I seriously tried was Splinterlands, and I actually enjoyed it for a while. Unfortunately, my schedule became too busy at that time, so eventually I stopped playing.

Then came HiveGrove.

Since I have more free time nowadays, I decided to jump in and give the game a try. What attracted me the most was that HiveGrove was still relatively new, which made me feel that it would be easier to understand the game, catch up with everyone, and grow together with the community.

Looking back, I think joining was one of the best decisions I’ve made recently on Hive.

I entered the game during Season 1. I was already a bit late compared to some players, and at first I thought I might be taking too much risk by investing resources into the game. However, things turned out much better than I expected. Despite starting late, I still managed to finish among the Top 10 players.

That gave me a huge motivation going into Season 2.

This time, I feel like I’ve had a much better start, and now my goal is simply to keep the momentum going. I’m currently competing on the leaderboard, and honestly, that has made the experience even more exciting.

But aside from the competition, something else caught my attention.

HiveGrove could actually become another interesting source of HIVE income for active Hive users.

The Relaxed Farmer

The simplest way to participate is what I would call becoming a passive investor—or simply a farmer.

Basically, you buy trees, expand your land, plant more trees, and collect your watering rewards every day.

That’s it.

If you don’t enjoy competing or constantly checking the leaderboard, this might be the perfect approach. You can simply develop your grove gradually and collect your rewards.

From my own experience so far, I find the potential returns attractive considering how simple the gameplay is. Of course, like anything related to crypto and blockchain games, I think everyone should still understand what they’re putting into the game before spending.

But in terms of effort, this is probably one of the most relaxed blockchain games I’ve played.

Competing on the Leaderboard

The second option is much more challenging: competing for the leaderboard.

This is the path I’m currently taking.

Unlike passive farming, competing requires more attention, strategy, activity, and potentially regular spending if you want to remain competitive.

But there’s a reason players are putting so much effort into it—the prize pool makes the competition worthwhile.

Personally, this is where much of the excitement comes from. Watching your position change, seeing other players improve their groves, and figuring out what you need to do next gives the game another layer beyond simply collecting rewards.

It can get competitive, but that’s also what makes Season 2 fun for me.

Earning Through the Campfire

The third option is probably the most familiar one for Hive users: engagement.

HiveGrove has the Campfire, where players can chat, share topics, interact with one another, and basically build a community around the game.

And because HiveGrove is connected to Hive, those conversations can also become rewarding.

Good Campfire posts may receive curation from the hive-grove@hive-grove account, with HIVE rewards distributed through CommentRewarder.

This is something I really like because it combines gaming with what Hive already does best: rewarding participation and community engagement.

So even if you’re not heavily investing or chasing the leaderboard, you can still participate simply by joining conversations and adding value to the community.

Overall, that’s what makes HiveGrove interesting to me right now.

You can be a relaxed farmer, a competitive leaderboard player, an active Campfire participant—or maybe all three!

And since the project is still growing, I’m excited to see how much bigger the game and its economy can become.

If you’re interested in joining HiveGrove, feel free to let me know in the comments. I can send you an invite and plant a free tree for you to help you get started!

See you around the Grove.

HiveGrove on! 🌳🐝
