Hi foodies, I'm here with a new recipe to share with you.
It was a holiday, and my kids asked for something creamy and delicious for snack time. We chose our all-time favourite, the pitta bread sandwiches. My sister created this recipe, but I make it most now because my kids love it. Today I'm sharing the recipe with you.
Marinade for chicken
250 g chicken
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp soya sauce
1 tsp vinegar
1 tsp paprika
1 tbsp cornflour
1 tsp oil
Salt to taste
Mix everything with the chicken and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, make the white sauce.
White sauce
Heat 2 tbsp oil, saut茅 1 tsp garlic paste, then add 2 tbsp flour. Cook until you smell its aroma, without letting it change colour. Reduce the flame and add 1 cup milk in small amounts, whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Add 1 cup cream, then 1 tsp each of paprika, black pepper, oregano, mixed herbs and soya sauce, plus salt. Stir in 1 tbsp chilli garlic sauce for a kick. Adjust spices to taste, then cook on low heat until thick.
Chicken
Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan, saut茅 1 tsp garlic paste and 1 tsp ginger paste, then add the marinated chicken. Fry on low heat until almost done. Add half a cup of diced capsicum and cook for one more minute. Pour the chicken into the white sauce and cook on low heat for 2 to 3 minutes.
Assembly
Toast the pitta bread.
Cut into 2 halves. Spread the creamy filling on one half, cover with the other, cut in two and serve while warm.
These sandwiches are great for snacks, high tea, tea parties and late-night cravings. Enjoy, and do comment how yours turned out. See you soon with another recipe. Bye!
