In my quest of using up lettuce I've adapted the classic pea and ham soup recipe. No peas, replaced with lettuce :D
It all starts with the ham obviously. Got a ham hock, cooked it by boiling so I can get a nice ham stock.
Cleaned up the stock - straining and letting it cool so I can remove the fat.
Picked the meat and removed the fat.
Then I just heated up the stock again, poached the lettuce and blitzed it. Then I added the picked ham and that's it, the result is the first pic.
In the greenhouse I really went to town on the lettuce. It got quite a drastic hair cut.
Used half for the soup and half will be turned into a smoothie tomorrow.
Toms are growing like crazy now. I've done some flower pruning today because some of the truces were excessive and they would have broken under the weight of fruit.
My rocket bolted. The flowers are pretty though. Going to see if I can get seeds out of this one.
It's not all rosy though... we have a casualty. One strawberry plant died. Can't really figure out why... but here we are. It still has fruit on it, the poor thing.
And .. that's it!
Cheers all!
