Ever get so high it takes your breath away? Rocky Mountain National Park is one of those places, if the scenery doesn't take your breath away the elevation sure will. Longs Peak, pictured above, is the tallest peak in the park at 14,259-feet (4346 m) above sea level. It's one of those hungry mountains, the park rangers used to keep a tally of the number of people it'd claimed at the trailhead until it got to be too morbid.
Beware the begging bandits! The ground squirrels are some persistent bastards but it's the bears you've got to watch out for.
Glaciers may be a dying breed but glacial lakes are still going strong in the Rockies. Good place to stop and reflect on where you're headed.
To the salad bar, looks like. Been fixing to get back to the Rocky Mountains since I left in 2017 but haven't managed to yet, seems there's too many places and not enough time to see them all.
Bear with me, that's Bear Lake. Didn't see any bears there, not sure how it got it's name. Place is usually hopping during the summer season, they may just be shy. There's a trailhead there that leads to even more glacial lakes, so it you're looking for a place to reflect and take it all in it's a good spot to start.
