Hey Hive fam! Sharing a snapshot of what a regular gym day looks like for me these days. My routine has settled into a rhythm I actually enjoy showing up for, which feels like a win in itself.
I usually kick things off on the treadmill — nothing fancy, just enough to get the blood moving and my head out of “thinking mode” and into “body mode.” It’s become a nice transition ritual between the outside world and gym focus.
From there it’s into weightlifting. I’m not chasing personal records, just steady, consistent reps that build over time. Being a Planet Fitness Black Card member means I’ve got access to the full floor whenever I want it, which keeps things flexible depending on my energy that day.
On the days pickleball is on the schedule, that’s usually the highlight. It’s fast, social, and doesn’t feel like “exercise” in the grindy sense — more like play with a side of cardio.
Yoga rounds things out on the flexibility side, and I try to be intentional about recovery too — red light therapy sessions and the occasional massage keep the body from feeling like it’s constantly playing catch-up.
The mix of structure (lifting, treadmill) and joy (pickleball) with real recovery built in is what’s kept this sustainable. It’s less about chasing a specific outcome and more about maintaining a relationship with movement that I don’t dread.
That’s the typical gym rundown! Curious how others structure their strength-versus-recovery balance — drop your routines below.
