Sometimes, it takes decades to finish a song, and then every now and again, a miracle song happens, like this one. I wrote this song, literally, in my head, during a nap and voice-noted it to a bunch of people I know. A lot of people thought I was nuts, when I tried to explain the children's lullaby aspect or the Ella Fitzgerald-inspired Jazz/ Bluesy runs.
I had to wait for 
I actually originally wrote the song for the Ukelele (ambitiously, considering I neither own one or know how to play one), inspired by this rendition of "Over the Rainbow":
But after several practices, we found the acoustic guitar and the bells made the perfect magical combination.
This song tells a tale of a deeply painful time in my life and an experience that will stay with me until I draw my last breath. Although I've been open and honest with friends, family, therapists, and even God, the whole time, I have found it impossible to heal. It hurts every single time I sing it, and somehow, in that, I find some comfort and catharsis.
This song has given me a small amount of peace, and an opportunity deeply feel my loss and share it meaningfully, with those who understand what it felt like to be in my shoes.
If you understand the lyrics, and you relate in any way, I am so sorry. I want you to know that I understand your pain. Although many women have walked the same path, and many choose to stay silent, I choose not to. Because although I can't change the past, I might be able to help heal someone else in the future.
This song was written with so much love and emotion. I hope it reaches your soul and gives you a little warmth and hope and the message that you are not alone.
