#1. Kill Me by Phoebe Bridgers
This song came up during a social media trend, but it has such beautiful lyrics -- too beautiful to be ignored.
The impression that I receive from it is the emotions that someone feels during the coming and going of life's seasons.
In this song, the woman reflects on her sons getting married -- it is a huge life change for everyone involved. Her sons finding love makes her reminisce on the memories of her and her husband first falling in love.
Each time, the woman comments that, "This is gonna kill me," indicating the gravity of how overwhelmed she feels during these situations... But then, she quietly says, "Wait..." ; she is beginning to see the hope that emerges from them as well 馃挍...
For me, this song represents the heartbreak that came from my miscarriages, but also the hope and joy that comes with carrying our rainbow baby 馃寛...
#2. Maps by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
It's funny; the first time that I heard this song was back in 2008, while playing Rock Band. I was in Grade 8, 14-years-old, and I only ever received the impression of a sweet love song...
While listening to it today as a mother, it holds an entirely different meaning: I now connect this song with my children.
"Don't stray," "Wait -- they don't love you like I love you..." These are the lyrics of a parent who desperately wants to protect their children from the influences of the world, to shield them from the deceitful people with malicious intentions.
#3. Ghost

Finally, I've been listening to this Bieber tune on repeat, although again, the lyrics have been carrying a different meaning for me.
I'll keep it short because this is a pretty popular song, but basically, I connect the lyrics with God and Jesus.
"And if I can't be close to you, I'll settle for the ghost of you" -- yearning to join Jesus in the Kingdom of Heaven but settling for His ghost, the Holy Spirit, here on earth.
(And, of course, I love Jesus and miss Him more than life 馃ス馃檹)
