Shoalhaven Heads bounds ride ahead of drive home : October 5 2026
Got a chance to fit in a Kids Cancer bike ride before heading back to Sydney. Decided to ride the bounds roads and tracks around Shoalhaven Heads
Cloud is well above the top of Coolangatta Mountain - good chance of a dry ride
Did ride past the end of the village to cut back on the track that goes down to the water works and the beach. A few flower shots for that track. Native violet to start for my granddaughter Violette
No idea if this is a native or a garden escapee. It is close to the gardens but not downhill from them. Often happens that plants take root from stuff dumped in the bush
Do know that black-eyed Susan is not a native. Rode a track back to the asset protection zone on that side of the village and back to roads
Golf course runs on the Eastern boundary of the village.

Next part of the bounds ride is to go up Hay Avenue to the other boat ramp - mangroves and oyster beds
Always pelicans - today they are ashore. Going to guess there have been boat landings and fish gutting. That brings them ashore. A good connection to the movie we watched yesterday - Storm Boy about a young boy who nurtures 3 pelicans after their mum is shot by hunters.

Uneventful bit slowish drive home. My wife drove all the way - good progress on concussion recovery
Did bbq for dinner. Back is sore after a few days on a too soft bed.
