New season blunt greenhoods in Seven Mile Beach NP : July 24 2026
Joined in on the shopping visit with my wife to Nowra. Did Tkmaxx shopping for gifts for my granddaughters. My wife bought stuff for her grandson. Next stop - haberdashery shopping - then grocery shopping.
Went for lunch in the local Japanese restaurant - a bento box was plenty for both of us
Was enough time to do a close in ride and walk. Ride to edge of village and walk down toward the beach. A native violet on the way from the bike park

Found two more plants flowering alongside the waterworks. Maybe a new spot and third for the day
Cross the South Sand track on the path to the beach - a new location here - 4th for the day. Path crosses a few low dunes

Doing ID from leaves is hard. Leaf is a bit more ovate than a nodding greenhood and the leaf stalk is shorter
Always helps to see a flower to confirm ID on the leaf - pterostylis curta - 5th spot for the day
Was entertained by the call and crunching of two yellow tailed black cockatoos chomping banksia seeds up above

Made it down to the beach - do not often walk this way as there are only ever a few orchids. Glad to find some today

Cluster of kookaburras on the edge of the waterworks. They made a big racket when a family walked along the track behind them
With some shopping steps this was supposed to be a lower steps day. That did not happen with another step count over 10k. I do like being ti getnon the bike to reach the bush for a walk - walk to the beach adds big time
Friends came over for dinner - turned into a 4 types of meat bbq. Mynwife did the veges.
