... Building, planting, and seeking out the most beautiful flowers ...

Close to a year has passed since we broke ground on our building project. First we built a water tower with a combined toolshed beneath. And then we moved on to the main show ~ our future two room house.

There is so much to do. It can be overwhelming to considee the months (or even years) of work ahead of us. Not to mention the money that it will require. Still, I am taking pride in what we have accomplished. So, here is a picture of some of my favorite flowers with the completed roof in the background.

At this moment we are building up the foundation and making cement for the aspects of the wall that are semi-underground. We don't have electricity yet and so are mixing each batch in a wheelbarrow.

We usually do three cement mixes each afternoon and then move on to separate jobs. As always I am working with the plants.

For years this plot was overgrazed by our neighbor's goats. Since putting up the chain link fence the forest has recovered a great deal. To help things along I am adding in some trees & herbs, especially along the fence line where I want to cultivate a thriving hedgerow.

The flower bed that I planted around 6 months ago is bloomong with some end of summer, early fall flowers. I collected zinnias and yarrow to create a bouquet to bring home at the end of the busy workday.
