.... time spent surrounded by trees and reconnecting with old friends in their family's cabin ....

Hello readers of the hive,

Months have passed since my last post. And today is the day I finally feel inspired to share a little adventure from my time in California. Even though I grew up in California, now it is a place I visit once or twice a year. Each time I am able to stay for a few weeks and explore some of the landscapes I grew up with. This past few weekend was spent attending the wedding of a childhood friend in a very historical setting; a cabin that his great-great grandparents built. I can't say where this cabin is exactly. All I can say is that these forest and rivers were the backdrop of my favorite childhood memories.

There were meet ups and wedding-related events all weekend. And in our free time, my family, some friends and I hiked pretty much daily through the towering redwood trees. We visited the river and the quaint town besides it. And explored a once haunted cabin that is now filled with people and parties.

I also spent a lot of time, in our rental cabin, drinking tea and starting a new novel.

California is always changing. It's population constantly growing with new buildings being built to house the 45 million population. Some things, though, seem to stay the same. Like these old cabins and the oaks, pines, and redwoods that surround them.

I no longer call California my home, and I haven't for a long time. Still, my soul feels at peace when I am able to stay for a while and pretend that it is.

So cozy!!
